Yeah, as far as I can remember, Myrs nearly crit more than they normally attack.

They aren't very dependable to me.

Well at least with swordmasters, their promoted versions with even higher critical rates, which always seem to use criticals when I don't need them for some reason, and generally don't when I would prefer they do.

Unless I manage to get up to 100% crit rate.

I critical pretty often even without killer equipment (or anything with a critical boost) using swordmasters, the problem is just that I don't need/want them most of the time.

When you play arena and somebody has a Hoplon Guard then swordmasters become very Glass Cannony.

Their defense seems decent enough to me, mages are what I consider glass cannons.

Glass Cannon = something with low evasion and defense, but high speed and damage output.

Well, a character with high evasion ends up having high Effective HP, meaning they're not really very "glassy".

I thought high evasion was actually more common for glass cannons, since they didn't have the HP to go toe to toe.

I'd like to get into a good WRPG but I haven't yet found one that keeps my interest, can be acquired for free, and works on my computer.

I've played bits of Elder Scrolls I and Baldur's Gate but they both seemed either too tedious or too overwhelming, at various times.

Dragon Quest is a lot more JRPG-ish than Final Fantasy.

Also, Persona games, while quite JRPG-ish, still don't represent the genre as well as Dragon Quest and its innumerable clones do.
