Since when has torrenting it been expensive?

What Juan Carlos said. Plus, generally I find that if I start torrenting something on the same day I order a DVD set, the DVD set will be here sooner.

No, my internet connection is not very good. Why do you ask?
  • Fuck torrents, just type in "watch X online" and you'll get dozens of streaming sites.

    streaming

    No.

Last time I used a streaming site, it crashed my browser.

    Fuck streaming.
  • I'm a damn twisted person
It sounds more like your internet just sucks.

But yeah streaming generally has lame picture and sound quality.
  • You can change. You can.
I've never streamed anything druing my sweet life and I don't plan to start any time soon, so no.
  • Official streams for shows are usually at least watchable, but... of course not every show has legal streams of its episodes online.  Unofficial streams tend to be completely terrible, especially because of the weird tendency people have to upload their videos to Megavideo, of all the sites they possibly could use.

I generally use streaming sites because I don't want any old thing taking up that much of my laptop's hard drive space. I have enough that I could just torrent everything I plan to watch, but that only leaves me with so much.

And yes, I could just delete it if I have so little space, but torrenting takes longer, too.

^ You mean "hard drive space" right? Memory is a completely different thing.
  • but torrenting takes longer, too.

Really, I don't actually find this to be true.

Downloading a new episode of a show takes like 5 minutes.

If I try streaming it, it'll inevitably just stop loading halfway through and I'll have to wait ten minutes before I can keep watching.  Because that happens pretty much every single time I try to stream anything longer than like 5 minutes from any website.
  • You can change. You can.
Torrenting a Doctor Who episode: 15 mins, tops.

Streaming a Doctor Who episode: 30 mins, minimum.

    So I beg to differ.
  • Kichigai birthday!!
I like when the folks at /vp/ livestream the  Pokemon anime, but more for the discussion than the actual streaming

Torrenting a Doctor Who episode: 15 mins, tops.

Streaming a Doctor Who episode: 30 mins, minimum.

It's the opposite for me, besides you're not counting the time it takes to watch the actual episode in the torrent time.
  • weird tendency people have to upload their videos to Megavideo, of all the sites they possibly could use.

It's cause they remove videos less or something.
  • Has friends besides tanks now
    @MoeDantes: Yeah. Whichever it is.

@DYRE: -shrug- Even if it didn't take as long to load, I can also start watching a streamed show and it loads fast enough that it doesn't stop.

And I generally use Gogoanime, which offers multiple videos of each episode; when I've reached the limit on one uploading site, I use a different video.

    Why would I?

Because, at least in mine and Neo's cases, you can watch the episode while it's loading when streaming.
