Contradictions in my anti-Americanism

Konata was looking through Edmond Dantes' DVD shelf and said "So, you hate everything American, right?" "Right!" Edmond confirmed, looking at the anime section. "Americans are stupid, backwards and can't do anything right. Every time I see something American it makes me rage!" Konata smirked. "Yeah, I remember that fake-looking shark in the Jaws movies--" "Hey now!" Edmond suddenly turned with a waving finger, "Don't go dissin' on Jaws! Those are some fine flicks! And in fact, the book is pretty good too. I'd go as far as to say it should be made a canon of literature! Hmmm, you know what else was good? Jurassic Park. Michael Crichton really was a genius. Where's my box set of those movies...?" "Umm, how about an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation?" "Eh, Star Trek is a thing I only watch when I want to remember how good Doctor Who is." "Is that why you have all seven seasons?" Edmond did a double-take. "Umm, well, that's..." Then Twilight Sparkle walked into the room. "Hey Edmond--" Konata said "Go away, he hates Americans!" "I'm not American, I'm Equestrian!" and then Twilight did a double take and smirked "Oh, are we having this discussion again?" Konata nodded. "Oh, then I suppose Edmond won't mind if I keep his Quest for Glory Collection discs and manual. For that matter, I'm going to take this Ultima Collection, and these Tom Clancy novels. I'm sure he won't miss them!" "Hey!" Edmond waved his hand and tried to stop Twilight as she was already using her unicorn powers to apprehend the named items. Edmond facepalmed, and sighed. Then he turned to whoever is reading this, and said: "Give me credit here: Unlike everyone else on this forum, I'm secure and self-aware enough to make fun of myself." End Post TLDR version - Dude, this post is barely even a page long. Quit being lazy and go read it.

    >IJBM: Bros who believe making jabs at themselves suddenly excuses their hypocritical attitudes(or attitudes in general for that matter)

  • Has friends besides tanks now
IJBM: When said bros also assume that they're the only ones capable of poking fun at themselves.
  • I refuse to read your self-insert fan-fiction, so if you have a point you'd like me to see, I suggest you make the tl;dr a little more informative.

  •  Wasn't the shark in jaws real?

    It was a robot

However for the shark cage scene they used a normal - sized shark and a small stuntman.

Okay, let me retroactively add a point to that swill:

American media is like a drug. By the time you figure out its bad for you, you're already addicted.

Besides, my pride won't allow me to stop until I beat The Immortal, dammit!
  • Your conclusion is dumb and you should feel dumb.
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
Japanese media is like a drug. By the time you figure out its bad for you, you're already addicted.
  • Woki mit deim Popo.
I have heard that living in Japan for while cures that annoying habit.

    Plus its expensive as fuck.

    What about British media?

    WISR

Is this an acronym for something or is it a mocking mispelling of "wise"?
  • Seriously bro, limit yourself to acronyms I can Google to understand, or at the very minimum have entries on Urban Dictionary.

I'm fairly sure Urban Dictionary has an acronym on WISR. And besides, it can be uite easily deduced, in my opinion.

anyway, blah blah, generalizations are bad in media, blah blah it is entirely too silly to have a default opinion about a work based in where it comes from instead of the people working behind them (And to judge them based on where they come from) blah blah

I dunno, I just thought it would be funny to make a post that starts off with my usual "America sucks" and then turns around and goes super-fanboy on Jaws of all things.

Since when has torrenting it been expensive?
  • You can change. You can.
It is mentally expensive. Looking for good torrents and all that. :P

Sure. Assume that I was too lazy to check while not bothering to check for yourself. Also, you're probably a little biased in terms of how easy it is to figure out having already learned it. I'm sure the first time seeing lol you wouldn't have known what it stood for even if it's obvious now.

Anyway, they should have a definition up soon. I just tried submitting one. I cited your usage as an example.
  • You can change. You can.
Sorry, I just thought I saw it when I checked for it back when I saw it. apparently I didn't. -shrug-

As for me deducing it, well, I didn't ask when I first saw it. I did ask for Lol back in the day, but that was because I was learning English back then, for whatever the hell that's worth.  (Yes, I'm aware of what you meant, but I think it's obvious that you're right about the bias, so eh, why address it)
  • I guess I was being a little touchy about the possibility that you were insinuating that I was an idiot for not being able to figure it out.

So you switched between black and white?

    weird.

    @Gelzo: No worries.
  • ^^Just watch me get on your case for every typo you make now, instead of just some of them.
