Not being able to erase a save file makes a game unplayable?
  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean
    Um, no, see.

You can't overwrite save files. You get one per copy of the game, unless i am SEVERELY misunderstanding what's going on here, that means that if you beat the game and want to play it again, you can't.

Veeeeery little entertainment for your money.

@MyFireworksDoesYours: Well, it's an arcade-style game. So the stuff that's actually saved is unlocks and scores. But if you want to start over without everything unlocked for whatever reason, which a lot of people eventually do, you can't.

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Except they haven't done anything with discs yet. Just with the catridge. Again, the disc doesn't hold any memory so I can't see how a block like that would be feasible (granted I'm not a coder) It would only work with a special kind of memory card and those are produced by third parties.

    ^^Still one playthrough, and there's probably a level-select option.

Yeah, for Mercenaries, I don't care. If they do it for Megaman Legends 3, then we'll have a problem.

Really, I think the designer community needs to come together to smack Gamestop around. The used game market is seriously hurting the market.

On the other hand, it's helping consumers, somewhat.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Gamestop seems to help consumers less than any other way of buying used games that I'm aware of, and less than some places to buy new games.

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Yeah, but for a healthy market both consumers and producers need to be doing well.

^That too. They also discourage buying new games as much as possible what with having to pre-order, being belligerent about how much you can save, etc.

People are always gonna buy things used. That's just the way it goes. If EVERY video game company banded together to stop the selling and trading in of used games, people would just resort to ebay, amazon, and buying from each other.
  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean
I honestly could not give two fucks about the market.

now, if Gamestop is a monopoly (which I can see that argument being made legitimately) that would piss me off.

^If Publishers don't make enough of a profit, they make less games. The games that get left on the sidelines are the experimental and interesting ones. What you'll be left with is assured-to-sell games. Games will also get more expensive, less units will be produced, etc.

    It isn't a monopoly yet.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
@Vivi:But see, what I'm saying is that there's already no reason to buy from Gamestop over Amazon. Amazon has stuff cheaper, both new and used. So Gamestop hurts the producers and the consumer.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
    Sounds idiotic.

Also I don't feel there is too much wrong with the trade-in style stuff going on.
Although I won't lose sleep if they do stamp all over gamestop to stop it. (Mainly because gamestop has no acquisitions in the UK it seems.)
  • $80+ per session
You can't tell me there is NO reason to buy from Amazon over Gamestop. Maybe only one of them has the game, maybe it's cheaper at gamestop. maybe I want it now instead of waiting.
  • In any case, even if it somehow was possible to prevent people from selling their games to other people (which it's not), I think that would just mean I'd never buy any games...  Since I don't like spending more than $30 or so on a video game.

    gamestop over Amazon*

Again, part of the problem is that Gamestop actively discourages buying new games. I couldn't get L.A. Noire at gamestop on the first day without a pre-order yet Toys R Us had plenty in stock somehow.

^^^Your first reason confuses me. What kind of game would be easier to get at a retailer than the internet?
  • $80+ per session
Believe it or not, I have seen games in stores that weren't on Amazon or Ebay.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
    I kind of doubt that.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Are you sure you didn't just mess up searching for it or something?
  • $80+ per session
Not everything is on Amazon and Ebay, guys...
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
And even less is at Gamestop.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Yeah, but in terms of which will have more options, the one that isn't limited by store space is going to have more by several orders of magnitude.
  • $80+ per session
Look, my point is you can not say there is NO reason why someone would buy from Gamestop over Amazon.
  • I don't buy from the internet because I'm impatient and want the game the instant I pay for it.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Well, I will concede the "wanting it now" reason. But other than that, I find Amazon by far more advantageous.
