I don't see it as that big of a deal. It's more or less something most of our kind have had to deal with. Talking to some other nerds on the internet can make you feel lucky for ever once having a girlfriend.

Well, there's someone specific I'm interested in, but like I said earlier, she's kind of halfway across the country.

And I don't know many people around campus yet. I have difficulty talking to new people.

Have you tried putting up a piece of paper up in the bulletin area saying "Looking for girl to hang out with. I like X, Y, and Z"?

That seems to work.
