The levels in Sonic Generations.

They included City Escape because it is the most memorable stage with the most memorable music.

We can all agree on White Jungle, though.

Also, Spagonia Day time stage from Sonic Unleashed.
  • White Jungle had some of best music of SA2.

  • I figured White Jungle was called that due to the amount of spooge on the screen from playing it.  <3

  • I kinda wished that the Jungle was actually colored white, though.
  • White Jungle was good but hardly the best stage in the game. That award goes to Crazy Gadget.

Also, the reason there's so few Classic Levels? Because it's a game celebrating ALL of Sonic's history, not just the first 5 years.
  • Sega wants 1 level for every main Sonic game.
  • Correct.  One Zone for each of the 9 main games. Remarkable that's only been 9 of them isn't it? Even Mario, a series known for it's brevity when it comes to the main series games, has 11.
  • ... Firstly, they could fit more than one of each in there.
Secondly, the more recent games are so poor as to really not warrant repeating. Not to mention they were only recently beheld anyway.
Thirdly, the lack of Sonic CD in the list will never EVER be forgiven. They put in the freaking 2006 Sonic, but not Sonic CD... What the hell is wrong with them?!

Sonic CD was a side game that almost nobody played. And on the list of represented games only ONE was bad and that was 06.

And no they couldn't really fit more than one of each in there. Most people don't realise that these levels/enviroments are incredibly huge. You know how big the environments in Sonic Unleashed are? Dragon Road Day? If you put it into the real world is 25 miles long.  The same size as the entire goddamn overworld from Oblivion.  Skyscraper Scamper/Arid Sands/Jungle Joyride are even larger. That is ridiculously freaking huge.

Development time and costs just do not make it practical to include more. Not until the cost of developing these environments becomes dramatically cheaper and less time consuming.

EDIT: I mean just look at the City Escape footage! Have you SEEN how damn far the draw distance is on that level?
  • That's why the werehog was in Unleashed--they simply could not pump out a ton of levels as huge as the day segments, they needed levels that were as long to complete, but actually much shorter in raw length.
  • Yup, the Werehog and all the crap with the medals were basically just added so that Unleashed would turn out longer than Colours ended up being.

Even Mario, a series known for it's brevity when it comes to the main series games, has 11.
How do you even define what counts as a main series Mario game?
  • Super Mario Bros
    Super Mario Bros 2
    Super Mario Bros 3
    Super Mario World
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
    Super Mario 64
    Super Mario Sunshine
    New Super Mario Bros
    Super Mario Galaxy
    New Super Mario Bros Wii
    Super Mario Galaxy 2

    There, 11.
  • IIIIIII JUST WANT TO TELL YOU HOW I'M FEELING
