    Glaives are better.

    -thumped by INUH-

  • Hatter cannot stand to see people enjoy themself.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
@Hatter: 'kay, when I said "without insulting it" I also meant "without insulting specific people there." You're not supposed to do that.

^^^ You son of a bitch. I post in that thread! :< /notseriousbutdoesn'tseewherethecuntaccusationcomesfrominregardstothatthread

But in all seriousness, I just said that I didn't want to see that kind of behavior in this thread.

In other news, I've befriended Poisonarrow.

We Played Some Open Chords and Rejoiced, For the Earth Had Circled the Sun Yet Another Year
(quote from a post that's better off thumped)

It's a thread full of people talking about random shit, what the hell
  • I don't like the thread either, but I wouldn't call the people posting in it "cunts".
  • Glaives are better.

Myrmy, you don't have to post that. Everyone already knows I hate fun.

What I meant by that quote is being called insults by people who arguably have no right to call us worse than them.
I know what you meant, I just deliberately misinterpreted it because we totally are.

In any case, this endless bickering needs to stop. Not only because it's loving retarded, but it's because far more detrimental to this site than it is to TV Tropes. The relationship between IJBM and TVT is asymmetrical, as much as the community there would mourn the absence of such quality IJBMers as Chagen, Tnophelia and Tnu, the site itself will be just fine, regardless of IJBM's opinion on it, but given that TV Tropes is currently the main source of new users, you'd want them to not hate this place, in order to get cool people to come here.

Anyway, on-topic, that's nothing. One day, you'll go back there to see how things are, and notice you recognize three people at best.

Silly, there's no such thing as a cool troper.

This always happens to me when I revisit TVT. It's odd, to say the least.
  • You can change. You can.
    -wakes up-

    Uh...huh...

Can I get a link, plz?
  • Go back to sleep.
  • You can change. You can.
    Meh.
  • GO BACK TO SLEEP.
  • You can change. You can.
SHUT UP, BOB DAD, YOU'RE NOT MY REAL DAD.

(Also, I finally had 8 hours of sleep. I don't need more sleep. I am sleep. Fear me...)

    Loser
    Bob,
This always happens to me when I revisit TVT. It's odd, to say the least.

Well, I feel like there is a bright side to that situation since you might be able to try to get past old shame stuff and attempt to make a good first impression again. That is not to say that I think you have old shame posts (I honestly do not know if you do or not), but I believe that plenty of people like having a chance to start over again somewhere.

    Noimporta,
[T]he site itself will be just fine, regardless of IJBM's opinion on it,
but given that TV Tropes is currently the main source of new users,
you'd want them to not hate this place, in order to get cool people to
    come here.

I agree somewhat, but I also believe that a decent part of the badmouthing of IJBM II comes from the criticism that IJBM itself received when it still was a subforum on TV Tropes. I am not sure how one could persuade those who never liked IJBM in the first place to want to join IJBM II, but perhaps my premise itself is flawed here. I do not exactly have TV Tropes opinion polls with which I could support it.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
The vitriol concerning IJBM still baffles me. To the best of my memory, the hatred for it was mostly engendered artificially.
  • edited 2011-06-15 08:30:56
I honestly see more complaining here about the TVTropes side than the reverse.

Though that could be because so few people over there know that IJBM II exists.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
It's brought up a lot more here.

However, over there... The people who don't mind the site just... don't speak up, leaving us to only hear the people who don't like the sit as the representatives of the general viewpoint there.

That viewpoint may not be the viewpoint of every poster there, but that is how it looks, because people who hold differing viewpoints don't say anything.
  • I think that's mostly due to the ratio of people that either don't know or don't care about this forum as compared to the people that don't participate but are supportive.

The imbalance mainly leaves people who A.) Don't participate and don't like it due to past negative associations with the original IJBM and B.) People who actually participate here.
  • You can change. You can.
It doesn't help that the administration position on the matter seems to be "IJBM was shit and any attempt to retry it is bound to be as dramatic as the original one"
  • I don't think they're that inaccurate there seeing what happened in a certain time period.

And as a corollary, threads and derails about IJBMII are bound to get mod intervention.
