I'll admit this is a little bit because I missed the other big thread but I intend to keep this civil. So. Let's talk about being creative.

  • I'm so creative you bitches don't even know.
  • I've been told I am very creative by very questionable sources.
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
My creativity comes from the Internet. If I were to lose the Internet, it would shrivel up into a little husk.

    Silence is golden.

I have written a story where a Tsundere Magical Girl fights Complete Monsters by piloting an Humoungous Mecha. I then did a sequel in the same universe where a White Haired Pretty Boy fights The Empire while protecting a Mysterious Waif who is the last of The Ancients. oh, and he has amnesia.

My mom and D&D group told me they were creative : D.

  • I'm so creative I steal ideas from anime I like and distort them to fit in more with all the other stolen ideas.
  • no longer cuddly, but still Edmond

In other words, a typical American Edmond gets beaten up by ponies. It becomes the highlight of everyone's day.

    I'm so creative I'm.... not.
  • ...how often do Americans steal ideas from Japanese cartoons in the first place, anyway?
  • You do realize that Ed is Korean, right?

Well i've lived in the united states too so...
  • The Japanese took inspiration from American animation before America had the chance to return the favor.

    ^^ See: Power Rangers.

But then again, Osamu Tezuka did steal his art style from Ducktales.
  • Um... Power Rangers used footage from a Japanese live-action show.  Not animation.  Since, you know, Power Rangers isn't animated.

Oh. I take back everything, then.

Except the part about getting beaten up by ponies. I'm sure that gives you all a wonderful mental image.
  • We could accuse each other back and forth of stealing from whoever and claim this art style came from that place since who knows when yadda yadda yadda. Who cares?
  • Aren't you the only poster right now besides Kwarizmi who has a pony avatar?
  • no longer cuddly, but still Edmond
I didn't say "beaten up by pony avatars," dude.

I'm sure their mastery of the virtue of Compassion prevents pony Avatars from beating me up anyway [/obscure nerd reference]

You're right. I should probably talk about other stolen things instead.

Like how some Koreans claim their edited version of Kendo is Korean and most definitely not Japanese at all because it was edited by them, so they shouldn't feel shame in their nationalistic pride being damaged.
  • Or how everyone stole boxing from the Italians because primal forms of combat can be traced back to Ancient Greece.
  • Well I guess you could fairly call it Korean. No one thinks Taco Time is really Mexican food.
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
We need to bring back chariot-racing.
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
So, on the suggestion of Gelzo, I'll post what I wanted to say in the now-locked thread:

In America, the common denominator is perhaps quite a bit lower than
countries with more coherent historical cultures.  However, should you
prefer any another culture's media and lore, it also provides you the
    opportunity to indulge in that.

In a sense, it's like the mime
class from FFV/FFVI.  Its stats kinda suck, and it can only equip knives
and light armor, but it can make use of any abilities you choose.

    Including--and here's a key point--combining them.

Only on FFV's mime class can you doublecast a summon.

Only in America can you find the creation of such gems as Scurge: Hive and Monster Tale.

Shouldn't it be considered stolen from the Greeks then?

  • Clean your room little Billy

Fire is such a cliche. The creative thing to do is to slowly die of cold while writing a novel about your torment over slowly dying of cold.

  • (I was hoping you would catch on to my insane troll logic, namely where I indirectly accused the Italians and Ancient Romans of stealing Greece's culture.)

Writing a novel? Lame. Be more original, like...communicate the meaning of your story through the use of lightning bolts.

  • @MoeDantes You know, Glowsquid is French-Canadian.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
My ideas tend to be pretty entertaining, but not that creative.

Like Ancient Rome vs. The (German) Holy Roman Empire, IN SPACE, WITH MECHA.

Is there a clause concerning history with mecha? There probably should be.
  • There probably is, but I don't recall something like the one you just described.

He is? Then I take back...

Wait, I don't think I actually said anything to Glowsquid.

You just want me to get beaten up by ponies again, don't you?
