Coincidence

edited 2011-06-01 07:25:31 in General
This word has been bereft of all meaning. Every time seemingly unrelated-yet-conjoining events come about to produce an outcome that is favorable or unfavorable to an observer, without fail, someone will say, "It can't be a coincidence!" I believe 8-Bit Theater said it best: "Alternatively, it can be, as that's exactly what a coincidence IS." Now, I understand faith, yadayada, whatever, but what is with our apparent need to believe that NOTHING is the mere product of events that happen to coincide? Do we have some kind of pathological need to erase this word from our vocabulary, or something? Can't we at least accept that a few smudges on a table are not necessarily a ghost face?

No?

Well, damn.
