  • You can change. You can.
OK, it's simple: MLP is based around a toy franchise that is aimed at girls, the show aesthetics follow stereotypically female preconceptions and preferences and most importantly, it is indeed aimed at children, which we know due to its schedule and non-swearing/cussing-filled script.

It's on when all the kids are at school, and profanity free scripting is also to be expected of a family show/show that has writers skilled enough to write something well without cussing.

Finally, it doesn't really matter what it is based around. I could base a show around Barney and fill it with humongous mecha and vodka. And scantily clad 35 year old mothers.

That's still pretty much a non-prime time I.E: When most family shows are broadcasted. Also, what I meant by profanity-free scripting is the use of words like "damn" and whatnot that are not used in prime time scheduled TV, as well as what I'm guessing is the lack of the use of the word "death"

Finally, it doesn't really matter what it is based around. I could base a show around Barney and fill it with humongous mecha and vodka. And scantily clad 35 year old mothers.

That's only an In Name Only adaptation. It's not valid, it would never happen and if it somehow did, it wouldn't be liked by any of the original fans.

An adaptation is supposed to care about the source material and capture its tone. In order for MLP:FIM to be such a beloved adaptation for both the fans of the franchise and non-fans it has to have accomplish this as well as add to it. Apparently (As a non-watcher, I can't say if it is correct or wrong) it suceeds. It doesn't stop it from being a kids show.

That doesn't mean it is a bad show, though.

Pinkie Pie scares me. She reminds me too much of myself, like, they are taking lines from my life and putting them into that show.

    :<
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.

Now that VGcats joke makes more sense and now just made me laugh. that was the greatest buildup ever
  • You can change. You can.
My non-knowledge of the show demands to know...Who is Pinkie Pie and can you describe her personality to me?

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
^^^The pink one. She's kinda hyper and random, basically. Bursts into song occasionally.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
Well the rape jokes should calm down now. Now that the wicked anniversary has passed and I can pass the day from my mind. :3
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
    That's good to hear, Vorpy.

Don't see how that is an argument.
  • THANK YOU Anonym, I was actually looking for that while replying to this thread. YOU ROCK, MAN. Which number was it, by the way?
  • With the exception of the toys and an animation upgrade, I don't see much of a difference.
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
    That's not an argument.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
That's a strawman statement if I ever seen one. Way to smear the old show.

Spike often shows signs of alcoholism, except that can't show beer so they substituted with doughnuts. The show is deep, man.

I see the difference. But it's like the difference between Transformers and He Man. They are both still kid shows, they just so happen to be different presentations of it.

^^^^Not to mention, it's implying everyone that criticizes the show is ignorant as to what it's about or never watched any of it.

I know what MLP is. This means I win.

Why am I getting the impression that people are taking me seriously, and by extension actually believe that I'm serious...???
  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.
Because otherwise, I have to believe you're shitposting, which would result in me reprimanding you.
  • I'd give my opinion, but the thread's already filled with posts that seem to indicate a lack of willingness to listen to others.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
Because it's the way the sentence is read. There are certain styles of posts that make things read as sarcastic and joking, while others are serious and wholehearted.

Sometimes you use the latter to describe your jokes.
  • Just post it, Gelzo.

I'm willing to listen if you give me sound arguments that aren't random shitposting.
