^No it doesn't. Within the span of, say, 10 years, it's quite possible to take as many precautions as would be feasible in any other relationship. Assume all parties involved know about the situation and are comfortable with it.

Most groups of poly people aren't that big, or have a main relationships and sideflings. You don't even have to love everyone equally in it, as you can love different aspects of different partners. Polyamory isn't a solid concept at all, different persons have worked out different sets of rules as to what works for them, time allocation probably is one of the personally-defined things.

and to divide it up between multiple "lovers" is a wasteful allocation of resources. One must be as efficient as possible, and polyamoury is horribly inefficient in this regard compared to monoamoury.

Assuming your base premises are correct, "spending" all your love in one person is actually significantly more inefficient than dividing it in most cases, due to the law of diminishing returns.

Sorry for responding to the OP without really looking at the whole thread, but the first thing that comes to my mind is, most people don't think of love in terms of time allocation. Sometimes you want one man, sometimes you want another...sometimes you just follow your heart.

^ True, but the mistreatment of women in such situations probably comes more from general sexism on their parts than polyamory itself. Polyamory just enables backwards morals to retain prevalence and, for these countries (assuming I know what I'm talking about), is a product of sexism, rather than a product of love; it doesn't explicitly cause abuse. In a country that's already incredibly sexist, it would be quite harmful, I agree.
