I can only play games in small doses and increments now

They're somethin' else.
Time constraints, graveyard work hours and my increasing susceptibility to boredom via repetition are to blame.

Oddly enough, I find myself able to enjoy games so much better if I take frequent breaks from them and only play them an hour at a time. I've been able to tolerate the Dragon Quest games (and RPGs in general) that much easier.

Except for games with out of reach save points or Save Game Limits.

Or games that don't save at all.

Then again and fortunately enough, most 8 Bit and 16 Bit games are short enough that they can be beaten in one sitting.

  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
    Use savestates.
  • They're somethin' else.
I'll do that for Rygar, but nothing else. Nothing really matches playing with actual hardware, call me oldfashioned.
  • no longer cuddly, but still Edmond
No, I agree. Even though I played Rygar first on an emulator you really need a console to really enjoy it.

As for the topic... dunno what to say. I think its your mind saying "I like this, but I'm not really in the mood right now." I know I'm like this for most games, but sometimes I'll find one that just grabs me and won't let me go.
  • I'm the same way. When ever I play games now, it's "complete this level/mission/chapter, read a comic/chapter of a book/watch an episode of My Name is Earl, play next level".
  • They're somethin' else.
Some games, such as beat em ups and dungeon crawlers give me Just One More Level, but whenever I come across a roadblock, be it out of difficulty or by having to restart all over again, I try and tackle it some other day.
