Guise, stop getting me to read Homestuck. I've tried it, and it isn't my kind of thing.
All in all, I'd say its okay.
Also, I feel like punching someone every time I see one of the trolls now, so I probably wouldn't be able to enjoy it once they show up.

I have to say though, if those debacles you're talking about are what I think they are, that was fun reading.
But anime isn't a single work, so maybe that has something to do with it?
I don't think I've ever really felt that on the internet, so I wouldn't really know.
That being said, it's not really about avatars so much as that was the most visible representation of the forum's obsession with the series, which (thank God) has subsided somewhat since last summer.
And yes, I am completely aware that I am being stupid here.

I really should get around to reading this, but the avatars themselves have hyped up the webcomic inadvertently, and I'm afraid of it falling under my expectations.
