"Computer hackers should get the death penalty".

Oh dad, why you so crazy? (He said this in complete seriousness. He then took it back--and said that hackers should only get their hands cut off)

Comments

  • Hands cut off sounds good to me.

Unless they can type with their toes.

    this isn't counting white hats
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
Is your dad really a person?

    |Are you sure he isn't like a 'chatbot' that can only send out phrases it has had used and guesses at the context?

But you never had any to begin with.
That would be an interesting step in physical robotics technology.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
Your dad should be vegetated. For real.

Not being able to talk or react at all would be best for you and the rest of the world.
  • I still can't believe your dad loves France so much after all the other stuff you've posted about him.
  • ~♥YES♥~! I *AM* a ~♥cupcake♥~! ^_^
    Let's look at some things:

    • A "good" computer virus can cost millions of dollars (perhaps even billions...) in damages.
    • A skilled hacker can steal social security numbers and outright rob hundreds of people - people who may be on the verge of bankruptcy, or are dealing with a costly illness.
    • It is possible for a hacker to steal extremely sensitive information that is best left untouched. *cough* WikiLeaks *cough*
    • Someone merely proficient in computers can harass people, which has led to more than one suicide.

Yeah, this is serious business. Should they be put to death? Obviously not, but in his defense it should be clear that there are those who have caused far more death and destruction than a "mere" ax murderer. These sorts of people are rare, of course (fortunately), but still out there. (Thieves in particular).
  • I'm wondering what the context for this was.

(Partly because my first assumption was that Chagen's father naively assumed something of his had been hacked, though this is probably not the case)
  • We were talking about the PSN outage.
  • If that don't work, use more gun.
Ah, I see why he would say that.  Still overreacted though.
  • I don't think ANY one should get the death penalty.
  • *Obligatory nitpick about difference between hackers/crackers*
