The argument that Glee is "making TV too gay".

Not that I'm a fan of Glee, but how the fuck is it glamorizing gay activity / culture / whatever that idiot said? Sure, there's a gay character on the show that isn't portrayed as a stereotype (except that he is, but, you know what I mean), but it's not like he's fucking guys on camera or anything. Is it the singing? If so, when the fuck did singing become something that only homosexuals can enjoy?

Why are people so concerned about TV being too "gay" anyway? Straight activity is glorified all the time. So, it's cool for children to be subjected to things that portray women as sex objects and sluts or men as commodities that come and go like furniture, but portraying homosexuality in a positive light is wrong? Fuck you, American values.

  • Isn't glee gay by definition?

  • ~♥YES♥~! I *AM* a ~♥cupcake♥~! ^_^
When I first heard about Glee, I immediately assumed that it was a gay drama - literally, as in I thought it was about gay relationships or something.
  • Kind of obsessed with the whole gay thing, it's a prominent theme in the show. It's like every popular show nowadays needs a gay guy, just like in the 70's every show needed a black guy.

    The void must be filled.
  • Not every show. I can think of a bunch that don't have gay characters.

...We're only counting main characters, right?
  • I've never seen Glee, but I don't like thier covers, and not because they're "gay" but because they suck.
  • Community is better anyway, at least it pays attention to its own continuity.
  • While I agree that there are not enough action shows, particularly the kind featuring epic space battles, and an overabundance of Drama (guessing this particular version of "gay"), I don't think one show is responsible.

There isn't a gay guy in the CSI teams on either show. Whenever a gay person appears on Law and Order SVU, he is either a depraved psychosexual, or brutually murdered.
  • Hey, at least Gay people show up at all.

Us Bisexuals still have to deal with false dichotomies and Bisexual Erasure.
  • But you never had any to begin with.

In all fairness, it's pretty difficult to depict a character in a show as bi unless they are A) a regular character, or B) polyamorous.

  • Showing it can't be that hard. Have them both hit on men and women. I make most of my character's amibigously bi.
  • >Is it the singing? If so, when the fuck did singing become something that only homosexuals can enjoy?

Maybe because it's sung in such a fancy-prancy over-enunciated Clay Aiken manner?

In all seriousness, though, Glee is a terrible show, but not for having a gay character.
  • It bugs me that Glee is supposedly so bad, because I love musicals, and a musical TV Show is something I would love.
  • Hope you enjoy T-Pain levels of Auto-Tune, then.

    Autotune, or like...BAWWtotune.
  • Dammit. Auto-Tune, really? I wish they could be more like Avenue Q songs, that was a hilarious musical (except for the anti-bush snipe in the last song).

Quit being a whiny bitch and man up.
The show is pretty fuckin gay, but "making tv too gay"? Fuck that noise, as long as we have Spike and HBO we're good.
  • My aren't we all queens and kings of high standards?
  • Quit being a whiny bitch and man up.
    Some more than others.
  • Spike? I didn't know Kino liked My Little Pony.

The only thing I have against Glee is its tendency to sprout follow-the-leader Glee Clubs in every high school and college since, and every one of them I've seen is brain-breakingly awful.  Which is a shame given how good the show is.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
It's been announced that a 3D movie of 'Glee' is in the works.

Apparently the 3D is so good, it feels like the characters are literally pulling you out of the closet.

When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
^ Okay, why is that even necessary? Wait are you kidding?

And I agree with the general consensus that Community is far superior in every way.
