Ignore scripts.

I find it very, very rare to find that someone enrages me so much, I should ignore everything they say. And it's very rude as well. People who ignore others have no honor. -Ak-48

    What about heinously boring people?
  • edited 2011-05-01 18:44:52
There are plenty of people who I have never seen make a single post that I think is worth reading.

That said, I don't use my ignore script, but if others do... so what?  They'd probably be ignoring the person anyway.

Yup, they are pretty useful. Helps people with no self control or have enough vulnerability to get annoyed by things others write, evade arguments altogether.

Since most people fill get black holed into arguments everytime, the use of an ignore script helps hide away the responses that tend to bug you. It is also a great way to filter stupid flamebaity trollish responses from the rest of them.

Why do you write AK 48 at the end of your posts.

    On topic:

I agree to an extent, on a forum it is pretty easy to just scroll past a post. Which is easier than just blanking the person entirely.

Not on the without honour part.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
Honour should not be a standard to hold yourself to when it comes to enjoying the internet. Personal values should not decide who you have to agree with, listen to, or acknowledge.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
I agree that they're pretty bad, though as long as the person doesn't go on about who they're ignoring, I guess it's acceptable.
  • "Why do you write AK 48 at the end of your posts."

It's a formal signature alias of mine. When I wish to appear professional and formal, I sign my posts with it.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
I don't understand the resistance or dislike of people who use ignore lists anyway.
  • When I wish to appear professional and formal, I sign my posts with it.
If you wish to appear professional and formal, you should probably get a nickname that doesn't sound like a gun name.
  • Because it's a horribly dickish move?

Not like you can read this anyway
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
When you actually discuss who you're ignoring, though, it's just being an asshole.
  • Chagen didn't answer my question. He must be ignoring me :(
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
Well I guess I can understand that. I thought it was a normal behavior since most people who've ignored me on other sites did the dick dance and bragged about who they were ignoring and announced it to you. I just got used to that being the norm and did some of it myself.
  • Sammy: Boring people don't hurt anybody, so they can just be scrolled past.

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
^^No, that's just them being dicks. Sometimes, on the internet, it's hard to remember that that's not the norm.

    ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
Well, isn't dickish behavior almost a norm to accept most of the time? Like being fine with people being snide passive agressive fuckfaces in philosophy debates, people trolling for attention and people linking to unrelated content when asking for help on a subject?

I know it's not regular, but I didn't think it was unwanted.
  • You can change. You can.
What really bugs me is the people who go "LOL I IGNORE U CUZ U OFFENDZ ME!"

If I annoy you, it's completely understandable that you want to ignore me (And in fact, I use the ignore extension on people who annoy/upset me) but I don't give a damn if you ignore me. If I annoy you in some level, well, I'm sorry, but if I'm not causing trouble for the majority/not being a general dick, then why should I change that?
  • Boring people don't hurt anybody, so they can just be scrolled past.
But what if, say, you have a tendency to read every post in a thread, and there's a particular user who tends to write overdrawn posts that never add anything of value to the conversation, and you end up reading their posts every time, despite knowing this. Wouldn't something that'd help you ignore them be a good thing?

Well, isn't dickish behavior almost a norm to accept most of the time?
No, and cut on the passive aggressiveness.
  • "If you wish to appear professional and formal, you should probably get a nickname that doesn't sound like a gun name."

It's supposed to sound like a gun name.

....Come on, dude! I was nine!

^^ I don't think that's what they are getting at from what I know, but since you used the "ALLCAPS" thing I have no idea what you are really trying to convey. Perhaps they are just leaving one of those "Fuck you, and goodbye!" speeches. You know, the ones your boss gives you when they fire you, or the teacher does when they send you out of the room, or when your girlfriend/boyfriend comment on you when you leave the house or lose some kind of metaphorical argument.
  • And now you're fifteen, you should get an age appropriate signature.

Like Lord Chagilion the Third, or Oswald Chuggleton.

IJBM: People can't get over threads that are started by Chagen being started by Chagen.

I'm thinking of including a rule in the new ruleset concerning ignore scripts.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
....well then. How many more/less arrows should I add to fix it? I can't tell.
  • a little muffled
@Chagen: Okay, but why do you use a nickname you came up with when you were nine when you want to appear "professional and formal"?
  • When in Turkey, ROCK THE FUCK OUT
IJBM: I can't get the script to work.

Not that I would use it or anything.

    ^^^One more.

^^^^Ah. I wasn't sure if we were supposed to discuss that.

....Those are just ostentatious and Narmy.

Vorpy: Well, that's your fault for using the ignore script. :P

    On the name of Chagen:

You may want a different one unless this is your site.
