People I Meet Think I Either Hate Or Love Manga

And neither of them is true! I like comics, sequential images coming together to tell a story. I don't give a shit if they are from Japan, China, Korea, America, Canada, France, Britain. If they're good, then I'll read them!

It makes it really difficult at work when I'm speaking about a good comic (such as Sandman) and compare it to a bad one (such as Naruto).

  • Glaives are better.
Good. The medium and origin of entertainment shouldn't be a matter of pride or shame.
  • Well, there is a pretty strong divide between Comic Book fans and Manga fans, with one side constantly poo-pooing the other. Standard nerd war stuff basically. So if you are praising a comic of western origin while being critical of a comic of Japanese origin, I can see how someone who didn't know you better might jump to such a conclusion.

In the future, why not toss in a mention of a Manga you do like as a matter of comparison while having such discussions?

And don't mind my envy about the fact that you have people that you can talk about that at work with. Animation/Comic Age Ghetto is in full force where I live. =/
