I want something that is actually emulatable (i.e. roms of reasonable size), and is understandable--either has an English translation or is simple enough that my lack of knowledge of moon runes will not significantly hinder my experience.
For what it's worth, the Valis series is quite So Okay It's Average. It's an okay platformer with no real distinctively bad or good features other than Nintendo Hard and Fanservice. And one horrible translation. Then they had to turn it into some stupid hentai game...
>Because we're inconsistent about which name we use, basically. Ideally, we'd use the Japanese name if the show is only in Japan, and the English title if the show is licensed in some English-speaking country (and common fan-translations of the title should only ever be alternate titles for the page, never the main title, unless they end up being the official English title), but... that would make way too much sense so of course TV Tropes won't do that.
A while ago, the Haruhi Suzumiya page was called Suzumiya Haruhi.
Haruhi is her given name though.
Surprising though it might seem, not every culture in the world uses the same naming conventions used in mainstream American culture.

Yeah, I knew that. No need to append it with "surprising, -snerk snerk-"
Don't they just call it "When They Cry" or "When the Cicadas Cry" (well, usually "Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni," but I mean when they use an English name for it)?
And so I guess Umineko is "When the Seagulls Cry"
Because for some reason the Japanese call seagulls "sea cats."
I guess I like Higurashi more than Cicadas because of Inu Yasha.
...and that the Japanese version doesn't have English subtitles anyway...
