The decline and fall of Anonymous
Comments
Guys, cultural genocide is an actual term with a meaning that doesn't have to involve literal genocide or even violence. Mind you, it's more like subcultural genocide, which obviously wouldn't be so bad, but still, criticize what he said for something else.
Anyhow, I agree with Don Zabu. Calling it a culture/subculture doesn't mean it's a good thing to keep around.
Still, I think Anonymous is more resilient than that. If 4chan dies, I think many would be eager to become the next moot, and it's not like there aren't many related imageboards and similar. Anonymous doesn't need a central entity.
Which is another thing 4chan helped me with, actually. I was a shithead when I was 14, and being in a place where I constantly had to defend myself forced me to either retreat or start to take myself less seriously. Now I'm a pretty chill person, and I never get angry during an argument. Even when I really disagree with the other side. Like now.
I'm not mad, just disappointed.
Anyone that does anything without wanting to be attributed for it, such as donating 300,000 dollars to a charity or helping out a person on the street in getting a burger? That act gets attributed to a bunch of lazy fucks posting porn on 4chan because of their attempt at making a monopoly on the term "Anonymous".
I have no idea who this is directed towards, so I will calmly refute all of your points. You are silly.
^^^ That's the impression I get every time any tropers mention 4chan...
Shut up, pedofag.
lolololol troll'd
SUPER MAD u jellyfish?
I agree that there are people who use Anonymous to try to get "street cred" or something equally idiotic, and, hell, I'll admit that the idea of being able to say "I was there when it all started" appeals to the romantic part of me, but that doesn't mean that Anonymous is only worthy of destruction.
EDIT: Cygan, I never said "cunt" wasn't rude. Used as an insult, it's very offensive in any English-speaking country (HA). But in Australia and Britain, it can also be used as an affectionate term for lower-class people, similar to the usage of the N-word in America.
[citation needed]
I was there too, and so was Bob, RTL, GMH, and Fast Eddie, and Ronald Reagan, and George W. Bush and Ke$ha too! We totally helped catch that pedophile who has no name and was loosely connected to an event that may have not happened.
EDIT: I never said that I personally hunted down a pedophile, or wrote Pressure, or developed Car Lesbians. I said that I was there, which is true, and that I contributed, which is also true. Those projects were the product of other peoples' work, and as I said I only contributed a small amount (even relative to the size of the projects). If that's claiming responsibility, then I'd say that I did nothing at all, because far better people than I did far more than I ever did.
It's also really fucking weird how even though they are supposed to
be Anonymous, people are trying to take credit for things
that they have done individually, as a single person, rather than as a
whole union of people with "no faces and no names". Being part of Anonychan is about as meaningful as calling yourself a non-conformist.
It's more pitiable than anything.
Even the world! All of the random internet bans and lost sites will never stop us from claiming to do things we didn't do, and taking credit for things we did do and dropping the anonychan title for something more clever while revelling in the "anonychan culture" that is completely based on memes, lulz and trolling!
Hell, I can remember when this came up:
Nothing but Hype Backlash and Fan Dumb.
EDIT: Also, Vorpy, why the hell do you keep calling it "Anonychan?" It makes you sound like Chris-chan.
