    I tried earlier to make making System of a Down references whenever the opportunity arose into a sort of schtick, but ne'er mind, I don't really feel like having a schtick.

    I think it is great that people have their own unique interests and personalities that define who they are. I think it can be pretty neat to learn more about them to broaden one's own horizons.

    However, I worry sometimes that having a "shtick" can potentially have ill effects. One possible consequence I can think of is being flanderized by others. I feel like one can potentially risk thinking of someone as just the "guy who likes walruses" or the like and potentially overlooking that person's whole self. I think for some it can be quite annoying for one's main interest to seem to override everything else they do or say. I guess those people feel like their dignity is not being respected and that they are reduced to a mere quirk.

    I apologize if that did not make too much sense.
