I try to avoid experencing Hype Aversion...

  • I preferred Grievous' fight scenes to Maul's, and the one at the end wasn't bad so it's Revenge of the Sith for me.
  • I actually can't remember having any sort of reaction at all to any of the fight scenes in any of the Star Wars movies.
  • I watched The Phantom Menace the other day. One piece of acting impressed me: Anakin's mom.
  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
Hype aversion is the stupidest thing ever.
  • Oh god I'm crying again

    thanks a lot guys

    >implying all Hype Aversion is the same.

"the specific avoidance of a work mainly because of how much you're told you'll like it."

That's the worst reason to not watch a show ever.

Except when I'm given the wrong reasons for why I'd supposedly like it. Too often, the things I happen to dislike get emphasized. Also, I bring my usual argument for Hype Aversion being that if one person does not convince me, then 100 people saying the same thing doesn't make it any more convincing, yet people act like it should.

But it seems we are arguing based on differing definitions.

Also, hype can make you expect nothing less than the second coming of jesus.

Unfortunately, most things, no matter how good, aren't like the second coming of Jesus.

^^I'm arguing based on the TVTropes definition.

And I think there's a difference between not watching the show because it doesn't sound like something you'd enjoy (which I think is what you're saying), and not watching it specifically because a lot of people like it.

^^I have Inception. Your arguement is invalid /Joke not supposed to be taken seriously.

And yeah, I sort of agree with Forzare, but I've sort of felt it myself. Not in a "I'll never watch it" way, so much that in a "Bleh, I'll watch it when the fever has died down so I can enjoy it without being pressured" because there's the fact that if you pressure people into liking things, they will lash out.

You are having hype aversion inside of your hype aversion?
