Dammit, I still haven't had the time to watch the last two episodes of Star Driver.

    ^^ FIND THE TIME!

Well... I thought it was good anyway.  I know a lot of people didn't like the show though, so... I dunno.

^ I didn't end up liking Hourou Musuko very much because I couldn't tell what was going on...  I could never remember who each character was and such...  So I was very confused.  I guess that's what I get for watching it without actually paying attention.

    >K-On is okay. I watched one episode, and while I wasn't disgusted with it it didn't leave me wanting more like it happened with Lucky Star.

    Fix'd.

^I think I mentioned this on another thread, but much of the first half of the series (and especially episodes 2-7, IIRC) is filler. It starts getting really good around episode 8.

"Is the Madoka thread that bad?"

Well, no, but it's really fast and I don't want to bother keeping up with it, especially since I don't come up with my own theories or search for fan art, so I couldn't contribute. But I made it a point not to read the comment section of the site where I watched the show after one time. Although the comments are much worse for Oreimo.
  • OreImo discussion bothered me mostly because apparently a lot of people don't like Kirino.  So maybe that's a pretty silly reason, but... whatever.
  • Oreimo annoys me because people wont stop talking about it.

And my religious views prevent me from watching it...

OreImo discussion bothered me mostly because apparently a lot of people don't like Kirino.

Would it be fair to assume that part of the reason behind the hatred have something to do with her being yet another tsundere?
  • @Chagen:  People won't stop talking about OreImo?  I haven't seen it mentioned all that much recently, actually.  Plus, episodes of it are still being released (though... slowly), so obviously people will still be talking about it somewhat.

@Komodin:  No.  Because people like Kuroneko, who is also a tsundere.

  • Likes cheesecake unironically.
I only tried out the manga of OreImo, but haven't read much. But I don't like Kirino either. In fact, she is the reason why I stopped.

And it is because she is a tsundere. Not that I inherently dislike tsunderes, but it's very easy to go overboard with them. The result is an unsympathetic, cold-hearted bitch. That's what happened with Kirino. And it seems like she barely gets better in that regard...

What is the best Slice-of-Life anime?
  • None of them Either Lucky Star or Hidamari Sketch.
  • Kichigai birthday!!
Mai-Chan's Daily Life. As the title suggests,it's just about the hilarious daily adventures of a young girl. Oh, and the President of the USA is a character.I mean, that's pretty funny

What is the best Slice-of-Life anime?

Surely, you mean, "What is the least horrible Slice-of-Life anime?"?
  • Komodin said it better. Really, most slice-of-life isn't that interesting.

Eh.  I'd much rather watch a generic slice-of-life show than a generic action or drama show or something.

But anyway, Azumanga Daioh is also a very good comedy/slice-of-life show.  And if you also count manga, Yotsuba&! is very good as well.  But that will never get made into an anime, presumably because the author didn't think the Azumanga Daioh anime adaptation was good enough.
  • Kichigai birthday!!
^ That was the reason? I read somewhere that was because he didn't like people making Azumanga Daioh porn.
  • I doubt that. He had to know about Rule 34.

I myself would be almost glad that people were making porn of my works. I say almost because it will probably physically hurt to look at guro pics of my works.

^^ If it was just because of porn, then his best bet would be to stop making manga.  People don't have to wait for an anime adaptation to start making porn, after all...

That said, he most definitely should continue making manga.

And also he should let Yotsub&! be made into an anime because I'm sure it'd turn out great (assuming it was done by a competent studio, etc.).

^ If I actually made any thing, I'd love it if people made porn of it.  People make porn based on something because either they like that thing or because other people like it.  Either way, it'd mean people like something I made, so that'd be good enough for me.  That said, I'm not a writer/artist/anything else, so that's not something I'll ever have to be concerned with.

^ lololol Pink Pineapple gets the rights to Yostub&...wait, It's called Yotsubanned? the fuck?
  • edited 2011-04-08 13:30:51
Well... yeah it is, I guess.

Well, Yotsuba&! = Yotsuba To!, but "to" (pronounced like "toe," not like "two") is Japanese for "and" so I guess you can call the English translation of it Yotsuba And! or Yotsubanned! if you want...

(the name is because each chapter is named "Yotsuba and _______" with the blank replaced with whatever the chapter is about)
  • Azumanga Daioh is the best slice of life anime that I've watched, and I think Yotsuba&! is even better.
