Except it doesn't. As I spent half a page talking about. Because that relies upon a professor wanting to analyze Pokemon, and sending a kid in to collect data on Pokemon they catch only to have them send in a bunch of rumours about the Pokemon they totally just battled. Which is even stupider than just taking it at face value.
Maybe they have a Folklore Studies department somewhere.
I mean the other way around, to study Pokémon folklore based on rumors and myths gathered by/through Pokédexes.
At any rate, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon seems to take the entries at face value. Hell, one of the early missions in the 2nd games is finding a kid kidnapped by a Drowzee.
i miss your mom
So that's why there are no mountains in California...
(there are mountains in California)
There aren't several thousand living rocks residing inside them causing earthquakes, though.
No, but they're awfully close to the fault lines that do cause earthquakes.
But awfully close is significantly different to 'they live inside of you causing earthquakes'.
I pretty much agree with Nova on all fronts. It is more reasonable to take the Pokedex at face value, than to think scientists would refer to children.
Although, certain entries like Magcargo are cause for alarm...
Yeah, that.
Or Wailord being apparently less dense than air.
Maybe it's just reasonable to assume that the GameFreak dudes, while experts on coding (and even that's real shaky), aren't so big on physics and shit and any errors can be safely called their fault.
Either that, or they just don't give a shit.
Just accept it, and if something seems too weird say "lolGameFreak" and continue playing.
The two are by no means mutually exclusive.
No, but the second renders the first irrelevant.
skitty wailord yada yada yada

That actually makes perfect sense.

It depends on which is the male and which is the female, really.

It's early in the morning, I'm scared and misery loves company.
That still doesn't make sense! Biology does not work that way.
Well, we did just spend half a thread establishing that biology doesn't work in Pokemon full stop...
Not that that makes this any less scarring oh my god dude
