People not dancing Gangnam Style properly
Comments
It's usually a tossup if I'm saying complete bullshit, or something I actually think in a way you shouldn't take seriously.
In this case I really do despise dubstep with a fiery passion, but Gangnam Style was in that tentative area of fun enough to not be an earsore until it got run into the ground.
I should note that Dubstep is one of the few genres of music where whether you're listening to the underground or mainstream version actually makes a noticeable, audible-even-to-non-fans difference. Compare Burial and Skrillex and you'll see what I mean.
See, stuff like Burial is weird in a dull way and I don't get it, but it doesn't make me immediately want to jam dishcloths in my ears. It's not aggressively awful. But that's not the kind of thing that gets played all the fucking time. Most of what I hear in school functions, bars, or blasting up through the walls from the dudebros in the next apartment is the really grating Skrillex crap.
>Burial
>dull
Nevermind, I think we just have vastly different tastes in music.
If it makes you feel any better, I can tell and even appreciate the difference.
Music composed by the famous Blixty Slycat, whose dulcet tones were coveted my many an ear.
His music, elegant in its honesty and genius in its vulgarity, married itself to the eardrums of the two losers in a manner that bordered on the pornographic; when Nova would consume Blixty's heartwork, she would feel at peace-- she would regress to a simpler form, one where the driving basslines would cease to be so, and would instead take the sound of her mother's heart, now enormous, singing her to sleep within the womb, keening promises of the many days and nights soon to come, dissonance and consonance-- woven and unwoven.
Nova would smile at Formaldehyde, and they could see the millions; an oratorio in all the colours of the spectrum.
"I am content," Formaldehyde would whisper.
"Aye," Nova would reply. "As am I."
(Long way of saying "Your music was pretty boss and I totally wouldn't mind you linking me to it")
I suppose that's good. I just don't get how you could find it dull.
Different strokes and all that I guess.
>people liking my music
what sorcery is this.
Anyway I have a bandcamp page and go by a different name now. Here you go.
The only things I know about dubstep are:
1. Apparently, it can be described as "wub wub wub".
2. The percussion sounds are a bit obnoxious. It's a bit like, how can the beat be as obnoxious as possible. On the other hand, it has very little sense of melody.
3. It is apparently really popular, but also inspiring lots of backlash.
4. Apparently, Skrillex is dubstep.
Also, I know only two things about Skrillex:
1. This artist's music is considered dubstep.
2. It accompanies a certain Farming Simulator 2011 video.
For what it's worth, I thought Burial was kinda dull, too.
I actually like Skrillex, though. And Krewella, which I can only assume is not "underground."
Burial just sounds like generic porno music to me. Which still beats generic ear rape, granted.
I dunno, if I'm going to listen to porno music I'd rather have an over-the-top sleazy sax solo because I at least like jazz.
^^ The Farming Simulator video was the only permissible use of Skrillex that will ever exist.
1. I like NERO's "Crush on You", if only for the video.
2. It ruined May J.'s "Rewind" Music Video.
3. I seriously have no idea what it actually is supposed to be.
The hell kinda porno do you watch where something like "Etched Headplate" is the BGM? o_o
Generally, either this or this.
Yeah, I'm happy with what I currently consume.
You have press the edit HTML button and type the video URL there.
It's gotta go at the top of the post, too.
Like gmh, I also like Skrillex.
I notice we have quite a few things in common, but each time a new thing gets added to the list, I can't remember any of the other things...just that the list exists.
I never said I like Skrillex. I barely know Skrillex. In fact, I only know one Skrillex song, and that is the one that was used in said video.
I was shocked to learn that the music playing in those 360 NOSCOPE MLG videos was actual dubstep and not a parody of the same.
This thread has gone too long without actual posted music.
Tangentially related to any and all mentions of metal in this thread.
Alex, thank you.
Huh. I'm mixing up my names now.
Sorry GMH.
why is my computer screeching at me
Actually, I just listened to both, and while the first is screeching like crazy, the second isn't.
Is that second one really dubstep?
>screeching
So you technically asked for it (Also, I've wanted to post this for a while).
Yeah, the screeching part was pretty much the only annoying thing about the song.
Oh, and the crazy light effects but those are visuals and not really part of the song.
Is this dubstep or just annoying (Not that dubstep=annoying)?
Okay, I guess J-pop can be just as stupidly repetitive as A-pop.
Sometimes I feel like I am the only person on the entire planet who likes the more aggressive "dubstep" that Skrillex has made popular, and yet absolutely fucking hates nearly every track Skrillex himself has ever made. In fact, I'm seriously hard-pressed to think of any dubstep on the mau5trap label that I actually like.
I personally prefer dubstep that is much more melody-driven, even during the so-called "drop". (I know that it can be really hard to find dubstep along these lines, that's why I've provided the above track as an example.)
Seems like some people actually seem to like the very rough and harsh style of electronic percussion/noise that dubstep has made itself famous for.
But yeah, I'm enjoying this more than just-percussion-and-noise dubstep.
Anyone else hear a tiny bit of Bad Apple in that track?
