People not dancing Gangnam Style properly
If you're going to do it, please do it right.
1. right, left, right, right, left, right, left, left.
2. please, keep it in time with the music. It's not just random.
Comments
If it's like for a fanvid I can see how accuracy would be important. But if they just start dancing it at a party, nobody really gives a shit since most people dance terribly at parties.
>trend
>expecting people to actually care about it aside from 'it's trendy!'
Why do keep posting like this...
Also what Alk said. But to elaborate:
Accuracy is a thing for lots of K-pop and J-pop fans. Gangnam Style is (sort of) a K-pop thing, therefore fans (much like me) will assume they should care even though we're kind of being a little silly.
What bugs me is when people go, "oh my god this song is so silly/dumb" without knowing that it's satirical, and without seeming to realize that it's reveling in its silliness (far be it from some college kid to look up a foreign song's history before glorifying/mocking it. >_>). And on that note, I suppose it bugs me when people parody it, since parodying satires is gross.
Heh, me too. It's like Parodyception, except it's disgusting because the fact that Parodyceptions exist is because they completely missed the point.
I love the people who hate it because it's "annoying".
Hey, I like the song. it features both minor dominant ("v") and major dominant ("V") going to the tonic chord.
I disagree that it's annoying.
I'm just saying that I think it's funny that people find it such.
I've seen hundreds of people do the Gangnam Style. Two people can do it right, both in spirit as well as steps.
PSY himself, and Deadpool.
Think about that for a minute.
It's not that I find the song annoying, it's just that it's kind of been driven into the ground by college hipsters.
Again, I don't really understand how that works.
Over exposure is a thing. It's like... say you like eating macaroni and cheese right? It's good every once in a while, but if you eat it every night, you'll probably get sick of it. The same principal applies to songs.
But like
I've never even heard Gangnam Style on the radio more than once. Exactly once. Haven't heard it since.
I mean, I guess PSY appeared on MTV or something, but why the hell are you watching MTV if you hate trendy music?
It plays on the radio at all?
...has Dragostea din Tei ever been on U.S. radio?
It wasn't on the radio, but it was blaring at pretty much every single event my college had for like three fucking months.
Because, like I said, college hipsters.
Yeah, it's been blaring pretty constantly here.
I mean, it was playing at fucking bowling. bowling!
It's currently number 2 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart and it's been on the chart for 9 weeks. Yes it's playing on the radio.
Also it's the first DLC for Just Dance 4.
Has it even been around for three months?
...Oh yeah, I guess I did first hear it in late August. Huh.
Oh, it is? I'm not sure if that makes it better or worse...
It is apparently satirical, satirizing a specific place (according to Wikipedia, ""Gangnam Style" is a Korean neologism that refers to a lifestyle associated with the Gangnam district of Seoul, where people are trendy, hip and exude a certain supposed "class" ").
Still an annoying song though.
Yeah, it's an elaborate shot at a Seoul district that's basically the Korean Beverly Hills. So it's amusing to see American Beverly Hills d-bags playing the song all the time without realizing they're the butt of the joke by extension.
Yeah, well.
that's right, i made a face at you. what now
>
that's what
But seriously. The song is like... right up there with dubstep, currently, in terms of oversaturation here and how annoying I am finding it.
And by that, I mean all of the dubstep.
Gangnam style is as annoying as all of the dubstep put together.
Except there is a lot of good dubstep that if you actually took the time to look for and listen to for what it is, you might actually enjoy instead of making unfair and gross generalizations about a genre of music.
Yeah, cause it's like, as annoying as all the metal put together.
Even good dubstep gets annoying when it's all you hear.
Thus, oversaturation.
You could say that about absolutely anything ever.
All you did was insult all of a genre, because of what you hear of it. Yes, you did say you are hearing a lot of dubstep at the moment, but that doesn't mean you should say the entire genre is crap.
I did not call it crap.
I called it annoying because of oversaturation.
^ Here, it is. The local radio plays it all the time, and it's what is played at most parties and events.
I don't listen to the radio. I listen to all of my own dubstep!
