Ridi, Pagliaccio, sul tuo amore infranto!

People say it seriously enough that it's hard for me to tell, I guess.

It's like the hate Nintendo gets.

  • They're somethin' else.

I don't mind. Anything's better than the prequel trilogy.

Except the Christmas Special. And anyone who links that lameass Cracked article will be blasted on general principle.

  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean

I've honestly never cared for the mainline Star Wars canon.

The EU? Sure, especially the games. Not so much the movies though.

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

So, after learning that Disney is actually planning on releasing a film every 2-3 years, forever, I am no longer cautiously optimistic.

  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean

Ahahaha that's not how franchises work.

Although I guess if they were all like, focusing on non-central characters it could be cool.

But that would be odd if they did that, from a business standpoint.

  • Turns out they're all biographies of Jar Jar Binks.

  • You know, rather than making a Stat Wars Episode VII, I'd prefer a Star Wars 2 Episode I. I know, I know, it's pedantic...but w/e.

  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean

Star Wars 2: Episode I: Part A: Act One

  • Wasn't that the plan for the next Half-Life?

  • yea i make potions if ya know what i mean

No that was Half-Life 2: Episode 3: Part Alpha 1: Section A: Act Uno

  • That can't be it.  That has a three in it.

  • Champion of the Whales

  • No rainbow star
Wouldn't this make Jar Jar more likely to pop up?

For some reason he strikes me as a Disney type
  • You can change. You can.

Racial stereotypes appealing to kids are definetly the disney type.

Having said that, I am actually sort of excited by this, if only because maybe they'll apply the approach they applied to the Marvel universe and actually have a Star Wars universe rather than just a war (Which wasn't a bad approach, but one that easily wore out once the characters were replaced by a much less charismatic cast + Obi-Wan)

  • You know I'm fine with this so long as the Star Wars games do not get pulled from steam.

  • You can change. You can.

And then, you got Epic KOTOR by Warren Spector.

and mickey wielding both a lightsaber and a keyblade

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

^^^Given that they've specifically greenlit episode 7, that doesn't appear to be the case.

  • Ridi, Pagliaccio, sul tuo amore infranto!

They say this isn't affecting 1313.

  • You can change. You can.

^^ Err, how so? Episode 7 being greenlit doesn't mean that spin-offs and such are not in the table.

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!

True, but given how utterly unnecessary an Episode 7 is, I figure if they were going to go the expanded universe route, they'd just do it.

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

Can I ask why people didn't see more Star Wars movies as an inevitability?

I mean there was the clone wars cartoon and movie, and now this.

I don't see why people are surprised at how they just wanna make money.

I'm sorry, were you guys under the impression that the original trilogy was above baseless marketing and commercialism?

Because guess which franchise started it! =D

  • Ridi, Pagliaccio, sul tuo amore infranto!

I really wish some of my friends would SHUT UP about how Disney is going to "RAPE" Star Wars.

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

Can I ask why people didn't see more Star Wars movies as an inevitability?

Because Lucas had thrown a hissy fit and declared that he was not going to make any further movies.

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

Yeah, but even ignoring that Lucas changes his mind like Fox changes its schedule eventually some up-and-comer would come along and see more pennies to squeeze out.

  • Ridi, Pagliaccio, sul tuo amore infranto!

I think it would be cool if the movie ended being REALLY good. Like, TOO good.

  • I'm a damn twisted person

I'd say it's probably a good idea to get new friends then.

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

Yeah, but even ignoring that Lucas changes his mind like Fox changes its schedule eventually some up-and-comer would come along and see more pennies to squeeze out.

Only Lucas could greenlight any new movies (until now). And Lucas has been adamant about not making new movies (until people waved $4 billion under his nose).

  • Ridi, Pagliaccio, sul tuo amore infranto!

Yeah Alkthash, I gave a long response as to why you have no reason to think Disney will RAPE Star Wars, giving many examples of movies and properties they probably didn't even know Disney owned.

    One of the responses?

"Star Wars is better than most of those things so shut up."

  • If you must eat a phoenix, boil it, do not roast it. This only encourages their mischievous habits.

I wonder how many terrible Disney movies people could point to.
