holy shit
the way how I have to hold it really awkwardly for the 3D to work properly
is really annoying
I might end up just forcing it into the 2D setting all the time soon
also it kind of annoys my eyes for some reason
no idea if I can even get used to that

What annoys me about the 3DS is that it's a perfectly solid system, whose marketing entirely focuses on its least-important feature.
You know, if I had three DSes, I would have more than a 3DS because I would have 3DSes.
also
I'm kind of disappointed by the actual product's coloring
I was expecting:
but ended up getting
can't be bothered to try to get the former which may not even exist for all I know thoughif the box just says "THIS IS THE RED VERSION" I doubt i'll get something like "THIS IS THE OTHER RED VERSION" by asking...wait, yeah, it seems that the above version is a fake
since it has an extra...analog stick? (whatever those were called again) which isn't supposed to exist
i'm guessing it was forged like that for wish fulfillment purposes of others
meh
You got the better device of those two. The former has the same start/home/select buttons as the model I have, which aren't very good.
It's missing the second circle pad, but AFAIK, no game has or ever will actually require it.
yeah I don't really give a shit about having more than one of those circle controllers
I was just misled into thinking it would be more nicely colored (like my red Gameboy Advance SP which was satisfactorily colored to me)
Yeah, the attachment for a second circle pad only exists because people were bitching about how the 3DS doesn't have the control layout of a PS3/360. There isn't actually any significant reason to get one.
Yeah, that would be nice, and making the interior black is an odd decision.
Unfortunately, they need to show the public that the 3DS is a different system from the DS line of systems, instead of a upgrade of sorts. So they have to advertise the shit out of it's gimmick.
And yeah, the XL is the better system, and what they should've come out with first.
Now, the "showing off new gimmick" trick is nothing new. Remember how so many DS ports of games were focused on ZOMG TOUCH SCREEN tricks?
Still doesn't make it any less annoying, though.
also lol I have a red 3DS
> DS ports of games
more like DS games in general. Why hello there Castlevania Dual of Screen.
A quick guide to the 3DS:
I always play with 3D off, to conserve battery life.
Is the 3D effect actually used for gameplay in any games?
I always play with 3D off, to conserve my eyes.
If you're keen on downloadable games, Table Flipper, I suggest Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword. Nice little twitch action game.
There hasn't been a lot of games that used the 3D beyond a neat visual effect, truth be told. Even Nintendo's basically downplaying it in favor of the other, much better features it has.
Such as?
Yeah, other than some stupid crap in the Mario game (which I really wish I hadn't spent $40 on), it's mostly just a cool option if you want it.
^Well, in comparison to the DS, more power, a higher-resolution top screen, an analog stick and motion detection (which works really well for stuff like aiming, as demonstrated in OOT3D).
I thought the top screen had lower resolution because of the 3D?
And what does more power mean? More processing power?
^Usually it's similar to the Wii with better lighting capabilities, though some devs manage to get more out of it. Resident Evil Revelations is a pretty good example of the latter, looking almost as good as RE5 on the 360/PS3.
Nope. In fact, when you turn the 3D on, the resolution effectively increases because you get a bit of...peripheral vision, I guess.
I'm glad Nintendo makes XL versions of their handhelds. I'm getting sick of the "smaller is better" trend. Maybe better for fitting in pocket, but I have hands that span across the letter keys on a standard-size keyboard.
Uuuuuuuugh, tell me about it. I remember wasting 10 lives total in my game just because I fell for those stupid "YOU NEED TO HAVE 3D ON" tricks.
The worst part is that it's an E-rated game, which means that a portion of its target audience is younger than the minimum age to use the 3D.
And maybe some of us want to get the most out of our battery life?
Speaking of which, is Resident Evil any good? I'm unfamiliar with FPSes (having only played two or so seriously), so...
I still use my old silver brick of a DS I bought when the console was still new. Is there any legitimate reason for me to get a new one? Cuz mine works fine.
Speaking as an FPS fan I tend to think the Resident Evil series is fuck-awful, at least what I've played of it. That said, I'm more of a Half-Life and Halo guy anyway, so my opinion on that may not count for much.
Uh...you can't play 3DS games on a DS?
I still use my DS, but only to play GBA games like Kirby and FF because my GBA's battery died a while back
Shhh.
