Don't tell my mom
but I set Lavos' theme as her caller ringtone
Uhh...melodramatic much?
If I were you I'd at most set the trial theme or the basic battle theme for that ringtone.
Lavos's theme...is a bit much. Lavos's theme is for really, really nasty things.
Like...the impending end of civilization as we know it. Or at least the end of an era.
It's a coping mechanism, I guess.
You know, like making jokes about something really major that just happened (like a tornado that nearly hit your house) to deal with the fact that holy shit you're scared
But using Lavos's theme for a ringtone is exaggeration, while cracking jokes about a disaster is understatement.
I use understatement for coping all the time. What I don't get is exaggeration.
But then again, I've never really been a fan of exaggeration anyway.
...it was meant to be a joke, is my point.
I know how the whole Site 16 thing must've felt for you. It probably scared the bejesus out of you as a kid, and there's nothing wrong with that. The Day of Lavos video was one of those things no-one would be expected to see coming, especially at a time when RPGs were highly formulaic. But I encountered CT at a much later stage in my life, and I guess I was more emotionally prepared for it. It still shook me, no-one can deny that. But it was nowhere near the loss-of-innocence thing you associate it with for me.
Actually I only first saw CT as a teenager.
Then again, I felt a strong dramatic "understanding" of the events of Chrono Trigger. It really felt like it meant a lot in terms of being analogous to things happening in real life. For example, I associated 9/11 with Lavos's theme.
Come to think of it, perhaps that's why I'm a bit annoyed at the triviality of your association.
9/11 and Lavos theme? EH?
He probably was playing the game at the time of the event.
Yeah. I watched as someone played it in the spring of my (high school) sophomore year. The following fall, 9/11 happened.
Both the in-game discovery of the Day of Lavos video and the events of September 11, 2001 in the United States meant, to me, a message of (1) realizing that the world is much bigger than the little things we've concerned ourselves with so far, and (2) in that bigger picture, all is not peachy.
All I can recollect about it was that I was an angry anarchist dipshit who felt it was just desserts on the US for its world police schtick.
It was my bro's second birthday.
I remember that my mother got very nervous and thought that it's the prelude to World War 3.
GMH, I don't want to sound like "that person" but the world generally is fairly peachy but then terrorism has always been there in the background for me.
Yes I just compared the IRA to Bin Laden.
Look, I was just a teenager back then. I'd barely any contact with global-scale issues.
And I know the world is fairly peachy except for a few problems, though these problems may in some cases be fairly big problems.
Oh, of course my damned razor would die right before I can take care of my mustache hair.
Good thing I have a normal razor with me, too.
Booked my tickets for Skyfall. Cinema's almost fully booked already, and it's not even out till the 26th.
ugh i really want to watch skyfall and looper and dredd but everything ever is conspiring against me doing so
My lack of monies does the same.
torrents lol
So yesterday night I watched Looper and had dinner with my brother.
Looper is one of the best movies I've ever seen, and not just because it appeals to me on every conceivable aesthetic level. It's grim, good-humored, well-acted, has lots of good action and non-action scenes, revolvers everywhere, and it's got something to say about people, too.
Yesterday was a great day.
I want to live in this world of yours where you can torrent a movie that is in theaters and not end up hearing a bunch of babies crying.
Happy birthday alky-poo
Luck is a factor. :P
I'll probably keep spamming this every time some of you have a birthday, I really love this trashy song.
My point is more that there's nothing more insufferable than camrips.
Yeah, I got that.
I think this has you beat, Mee-losh. :P
(Happy birthday, Alk)
Well, I admit, that does come pretty close. But you still can't beat a horse-faced Bulgarian wishing you hepi brzdej.
Yours was pretty good, but it didn't have booty b'day cake, so I think I win. :colbert:
Happy birthday, Alk.
