Brain, please stop bringing up the point of my own morality and very real inevitable death late at night. It makes it hard to sleep.
Darnit, now I'm noticing that I have the top seven threads as latest responder.
Whelp, Finals this week. Craaaaaap.
So, after recent events, today I am not taking shit from anybody. If Stalker Boy looks over my shoulder, I will lose my shit.
huehuehuehuehuehue next week for me
Enjoy that freedom while you can, Eel. >
Good. You should stand up for yourself. Just make sure you don't go looking for opportunities to do such, or you might alienate people by accident.
I only snap if I am having a very bad day (like now) and people continuingly annoy me (like Stalker Boy). Combo of the two = angry!Tools.
I should be writing a lit review on biodiversity impacts of red imported fire ants.
Instead, I'm comforting a friend who's going through an abusive lab research rotation in med school, and arguing with people online about controllers vs. keyboards.
Delay argument about keyboard v. controller. Go work on that report, sonny, less the ants eat you.
Need to sleep, test tomorrow. But can't. Bubble wrap.
what?
I am distracted from sleeping because I am playing with bubble wrap.
The Church of England will be banned from offering same-sex marriage.
Sometimes I really hate this country.
The state forbids the local Church, against its wishes, to marry gays? Do I get it right? So it's the opposite of, like, everywhere else?
Smells like Monty Python.
The Church of England threatened to disestablish itself if it had to marry gay people.
Okay, I read it more carefully. I guess I get it now. The way it was described ^^^ sounded like it was crazier.
Can't marrying gay people be left to other religions, then?
Seriously wondering if I have ADD or something.
Huh, if that series of panels where a character I assume is a child version of Lord Fanny tells a joke to some skeletons only to subvert the expectations of a dick joke for a dead baby joke is kind making me want to read The Invisibles.
It is Lord Fanny.
The Invisibles is...ugh. I still think most of the good stuff happens in Volume 2. There's some great stuff in Volume 1, like the Entropy In The U.K arc, but on the other hand, fucking Dane. Just
Fucking
Dane.
I hate that little shit.
Yeah, there isn't a separation of Church and State in the UK.
It's illegal for lower-level priests to go against the dogma of their religious denomination leaders and offer same-sex marriages?
That's the only part I object to.
Finding someone you know from a different site makes the internet feel small.
^^I don't know about the Church of England, but that sounds like a good way to get excommunicated.
The problem is that Europe, while still being way less religious than the US, is way more religiously homogenous, and religion is usually tied to tradition or national identity. It's very rare for people to convert or seek religions that fit their views, and most will officially stick with the faith they were raised in while still holding many fundamentally different views than what the religion preaches - most don't care about religion enough to let the dissonance bother them. It's not rare to even have atheists or agnostics as official members of a certain religion.
^^ I was going to say "Sounds fun." until I realized that real life wasn't just about social and political posturing for the sake of dramatic interest.
Liberal Christian groups like the Quakers can marry gay people IIRC
I had a 61% in the class.
So I studied for my math final thinking I would have to get a 90% on it, just to pass the class, that is, get a 70%.
Turns out I only needed to get a 30% on the test. I got a 100%, and now I have an A.
I do not see how any average of a 61 and 30 can be in the A range.
Unless this is one of those silly non-USA grading system things.
