Wha... What?

So it's official, then. Springfield is in Oregon.

Hell has frozen over. Heaven is now on fire. The laws of the universe as we know them mean absolutely nothing.

Comments

  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.

  • I live in Oregon, and nobody in my vicinity will ever shut up about this!

  • No rainbow star

Didn't he only say that it was BASED on Springfield, Oregon, and not that it was actually there?

  • ^ Yes, but people are now going to think it's in Oregon in the show. Now the "where is Springfield" drinking game is ruined.

  • You can change. You can.

It is not, dude. You can just do like the rest of us and stop pretending that anything after season X (Where X is whichever season you enjoy the least and was the earliest installment of these feelings of unfunniness happened) is nothing but fanfic

  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!

The Simpsons is still funny and people only think otherwise because of nostalgia.

    There. I said it.

  • I'm a damn twisted person

It would be more accurate to say that the Simpsons is still funny, but in a very hit or miss sort of way. Earlier seasons were a lot more consistent about hitting the humor*.

*Season 8 will always hold a special place in my heart for giving us Mr. Sparkle.

  • You can change. You can.

Honestly, my whole issue with the way the Simpsons is dones these days is that it lacks the witty quips that it used to do and it goes too much for slapstick and "LET'S SEE HOW CUHRAZY WE CAN GET IN TONIGHT'S EPISODE"

And it really helps a lot that the Spanish's dub voices were fired. I mean, seriously, they were even better than the original english cast. why would you do that

  • I'm a damn twisted person

I demand subbed clips of the Simpson's Spanish dub to ascertain this for myself.

  • You can change. You can.

    --looks for clips--

    --realizes he wants subs--

welp, we might have an issue here.

But yeah, the old Simpsons spanish dub was pretty sweet. It managed to hit the right spot between imitating the English's actors voices and create an identity and sound of their own. And the puns and wordplay was often translated quite well, when possible. Sometimes it was replaced for mexican injokes, granted, but wha cha gunna do.

  • This seems a bit a silly, but oh well.

Meh, subbed clips. Have two shitty videos of the same non-particularly-well-dubbed scene instead.

Edit: Also, I guess this doesn't need subtitles.

I thought this was already common knowledge because Matt Groening was from Oregon

    Kichigai birthday!!

I just want to say the Spanish (from Spain) dub was great too, but then the actor who played Homer died and it went to shit.

Also I was searching for my favourite scene in the dub,but I can't find it on Youtube

  • My favorite episode in recent memory is the one where Bart starts selling street art after one of his graffiti pranks.

My favorite part in that one was when Homer and Apu started fighting each other with the tiny plastic swords used to serve free samples in a Trader Joe's look-alike.

    I'm a damn twisted person

The Apu episodes tend to be funny in general. Like when he moved in with the SImpsons and sang the "Who needs  the Qwiki-Mart!" song.

Also, why the heck did they flip the video for the Spanish dub?

  • if u do convins fashist akwaint hiz faec w pavment neway jus 2 b sur

The Serbian dub made the total crap Ren and Stimpy were (after the first season, at least) an amazing show.

  • I'm a damn twisted person

    ...

Are Serbian voice actors wizards? Because that's about the only thing I can think of that would turn Ren and Stimpy into something worth watching.

  • if u do convins fashist akwaint hiz faec w pavment neway jus 2 b sur

Actually, the whole voice actor team was very amateurish - it consisted of only three (quite prolific, surprisingly) TV journalists who obviously had a lot of fun doing the job. They still did an amazing job.

The biggest charm of the dub was that the entire script was rewritten, with only a vague connection to the original plot, and filled with injokes concerning all kinds of domestic problems.

  • You can change. You can.

Also, why the heck did they flip the video for the Spanish dub?

I think it's something to do with copyright and youtube.

  • Didn't we already know it was based on the one in Oregon?  Hell, he grew up in Portland, and the statue next to the UO quad is a dead ringer for Jebediah Springfield.

Thats what I thought as well, I was sure this was very old news or I am just getting old

    You can change. You can.

It seemed more like an educated guess
