People who knock things before they try them!

edited 2011-04-30 06:04:40 in General
I actually can't stand when people do that, they refuse to try new things with no good reason. I'm not sure what it stems from, it doesn't really make sense to me. It's not like it's going to do you any harm if you're not the first one to try it, and wouldn't be the only one to like it..

Perhaps people are just scared to venture into the unknown..
Me? I run and dive head first into it!

Let me know your thoughts guys :)

You know what I hate though? Marmite. Even though I haven't tried it yet, I hate it. I refuse to love it so hate is my only option.
  • Hate makes the world go round, FUCK YOU STATIONARY CELESTIAL OBJECTS, WE GONNA SPIIIIIIIIN.

    ~♥YES♥~! I *AM* a ~♥cupcake♥~! ^_^
Pfft, don't knock knocking things you haven't tried until you've knocked things that you haven't tried!
  • I'm too cool to knock things I haven't tried. Jus' sayin.

Although there are things i would flat out refuse to do, but we wont go there.
  • Like let someone shit on your chest?
  • Yeah that's on the list.

  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.

What is your good reason for marmite?

I deal with this every day.

^ You could really screw their advertising if you only liked it. Marmite can't handle a continuum, only extremes.

Also yeah generally agree it isn't a great attitude to hold, although there are limits such as the already mentioned chest shitting.
  • Hahaha yeah.
"You either love it or hate it"
    "Mehh it's alright"
    "WHAAAAAT?!"

Yes, of course people have their limits, but when it comes to things like food, or cultures etc, people turn their noses up before they even know anything about it
  • It's not such a bad thing. I decided to knock Naziism before I tried it. It just sounded like a stupid idea that only a mediocer artist could imagine.
  • That's common sense, you're failing to see my point.

This approach has its place, and it has its not-place.  People who knock things before they try them might be insecure to their own detriment, or they might see repercussions that the audience tends to recklessly ignore in favor of short-term gratification.  Both happen with depressing regularity.
