Nevermind, wrong thread.
He supported Jacob Zuma and not Thabo Mbeki. He also thought having Julius Malema do anything was a good thing. He also helped develop the ANC=Only Winning Party Ever culture, which is terrible for any presidential election here.
I'm pretty sure he was the only one willing to negotiate, since negotiations started less than a year after he was elected.
As for him being an Apartheid politician, changing the system from within worked better than not, right?
Of course Mandela made some mistakes. Who doesn't? But if the worst you can bring up against him are some personnel decisions, then uh, yes, I think that speaks well of Mandela.
Now, de Klerk - he was necessary. But he still was part of the very same suppressive system that was the problem in the first place. I mean, it wasn't even like he was a white opposition member. He was member (leading member even, obviously) of the ruling National Party. He led the Apartheid Party.
So I take it from your statement he is South African?
Eh... might be taken as arrogant, but I still stand by what I say, unless I hear good arguments to the contrary.
There was no way anybody was going to become ANC chairman without his vote, it's not a personal decision if it's that big a deal and you know it. Thabo Mbeki actually put in place lots of the great financial and humanitarian framework we have in place today, Jacob Zuma built himself a Secret Defense Traditional Castle and is practically the cover boy for nepotism.
I don't even think there's a place to start with Julius Malema, but all his own nepotism/favoraitism seems good.
I think you mean:
And yes I'm South African.
Uhhh...
You know guys, while idly browsing the 'Net, I decided to check what's going on at Annebeeche's tumblr page. I entered the address, hit Enter, and, uh... Well, it was my fault technically, I misremembered one word for another and so entered the wrong address. It's just that I still wouldn't expect that to lead me to, uh, a rather explicit porn site. Gifs. I'm a bit shaken.
I just wanted to point out that "ganga" is Spanish for bargain prices.
Hmm-mhm.
@ fourteenwings: which kind of South African, if I may ask?
Mixed race (Black, Zulu IIRC/Afrikaans).
Unless you mean something else entirely <_<
Irdgck means are you the kind of South African that hides from the rain or licks chuppa-chups.
That was what I meant, thanks for the answer. Heh. Mixed race was actually what I didn't expect, with all the many options to pick it slipped my attention.
The kind that watches too much anime, if you ask me.
sometimes i watch toku
and sometimes you watch U.S. sitcoms too.
I don't remember fourteenwings talking about sitcoms much. And IIRC he didn't recognize "hi, I'm [x], could I be any more [y]?", which is such an easy thing.
(I don't really care about the show that's from, it's just a really easy thing to recognize)
I thought he talked about some U.S. live-action TV shows, which I thought were sitcoms he was lamenting the poor quality of.
Of course, I don't actually watch TV myself so I didn't know what it was.
Fourteen watches more U.S. dramas, if my memory serves me correctly.
Fair enough. And that would probably be a good thing anyway. Maybe. I dunno. I don't watch TV dramas either...other than Law & Order. Tried to get into Veronica Mars once but my schedule wouldn't let me.
Not even I hate myself enough to watch those. @Kraken is right.
That ended when Gossip Girl started, there are only three seasons. If I can watch all of Gossip Girl, you can marathon Veronica Mars.
How long is each season?

This turns out to be a pretty good suggestion for study music: use EndlessVideo to loop your favorite slow jazz track, and throw in fireplace and rain sounds. (The track given is Godot's track from the Phoenix Wright remix album Turnabout Jazz Soul.)
64 episodes total plus an upcoming movie apparently.
...is it good?
I have never ever seen any of it, just looked it up on wikipedia.
> watching TV
I loved veronica mars. She had a pretty fun dynamic and the season long mysteries of the first two seasons were pretty interesting, sprinkled were the episodic misteries she had to solve for money and you got a recipe for fun.

Sadly, that joke isn't as applicable anymore thanks to Stephen Harper and Rob Ford.
