    When I listen to the song, I get the impression that both parties are making excuses for the woman to stay, however she is just putting in enough token resistance to still be able to be considered a "good girl" by 50s standards.

    So I think that line is less an implication of date rape, and more an out that she can use later.

    I like the version that came out in the...90s? That video was one of the first things I looked at and considered "hot".

    And I only just NOW found out that it was Tom Jones that sang it haha!
