People at my school still reference Chuck Norris. If my school is at all indicative of other high schools, t's not completely outdated... though I wish it was.
  • Has friends besides tanks now
I consider my friends relatively intelligent, and they still reference him. Although thankfully they're some of the only people to do so, if not the only ones.

That's what she said doesn't seem to be dying any time soon, though. At least, not by the hands of a couple friends on the swim team.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
The only time I ever found That's what She said funny was during a game of changeling when it became That's what Sidhe said.
  • Hell, some people I know still reference Over 9000. I usually don't like to make group statements about teenagers since I am one, but it seems a lot of them don't know what an "old meme" is.
  • Well, it's not like the Internet does either.
  • I don't necessarily mind them using Chuck Norris jokes, but out of the thousands and thousands of Chuck Norris jokes that have been done over the years, you'd think they could have picked a couple that were actually funny.

    No rainbow star
^^^ Well thanks for ruining future post #9001 in IJBMer Updates for me >=/
  • Chuck Norris is an idiot.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
Chuck Norris isn't an idiot; he just devotes his entire mind to fighting

Seriously, though, when I was in middle school, I thought this meme was old.
  • It might depend on who the adverts aimed at, though. WoW has players my age who probably remember Chuck Norris from before he became a meme and haven't picked up on its datedness.
  • But you never had any to begin with.
I'll never understand how a bigot like Norris became a meme in the first place.
  • ^ Well, he was in a lot of films showing him as a ludicrously tough guy, and the meme is basically "Chuck Norris is hard", not "Chuck Norris is a humane and tolerant individual."
  • But you never had any to begin with.
But there are plenty of tough guys who aren't Chuck Norris!
  • You can change. You can.
The idea was using vin Diesel at first. It mutated into Chuck Norris because Chuck Norris' movies were even more self indulgent. (Of course, people who think that haven't seen the movies Diesel has directed. Although Diesel is actually a relatively good director. Gotta give him that)
  • The joke is pretty much if anything, Chuck Norris isn't awesome at all. After all, he got beaten by Bruce Lee. It's part of the Internet's penchant for saying things opposite from the truth, blowing it up, and calling it "funny".
  • You can change. You can.
After all, he got beaten by Bruce Lee.

Everyone gets beaten by Bruce Lee. That's like saying you're bad at martial arts just because you couldn't explode a house with your breath.

    With less hyperbole, of course.
  • "Explode a house with your breath."

If I had one superpower, that'd be it. "They call him the Human Flamethrower!"

  • But you never had any to begin with.
That would be like the most limited superpower ever. "Ooops, sorry, that's a skyscraper, not a house, no can do."
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.
You'd make a killing in the property development industry though.
  • ^^ I was thinking more of having flaming breath generally. Otherwise, yeah, it is pretty limited.
  • Harbinger of thread and forum death
Meh, I've seen more annoying outta WoW
  • You can change. You can.
    like WoW itself!
  • I can explode a house with my breath depending on what I've eaten.
  • Glaives are better.
WoW is confirmed for being worse than Reddit at beating dead jokes.
  • IJBM is better than that though right?

It's not like we had to add a rule strictly based of idiotic thread-clones that sprout up
  • You can change. You can.
I think that except for maybe two or three people, very few actually engaged in snowclones.

I know lcalasari was a major culprit in that regard. Gelzo too. Likely a relic of Tvtropes culture (especially since glennmagusharvey said they amused him for reasons I cannot fathom), since the rest of us tended to groan whenever another one showed up.

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
I find it odd that nobody's made them at all since the rule change, though. The new rules do allow for it; they just limit it really strongly.
  • ^ To be absolutely honest, there seems to have been a bit of a drop off in activity generally since then, whether or not it's connected with the change. Or is that just my perception?
