    But yeah, there aren't many good ones. I think it's because too many movies try to 'subvert' the superhero genre by point out things that any reader and writer already knows but doesn't really give a fuck about.

    As much as I agree with you that Doctor Who is way too similar to superheroes, I have to differ on it actually to the genre.

    ^I'd say Supervillains span more genres than superheroes, especially since the archetypes, Moriarty and Fu Manchu, showed up in mystery stories.

    ^^I'd say if you say Doctor Who isn't a superhero story then neither is Fantastic Four.

    Yeah, I want less of "trying to lampshade and point out stuff" and more doing what superheroes do. That's why The Incredibles is so good. There isn't much lampshade hanging of superhero tropes in that movie.

    Hancock could have been much better if it didn't turn into that dumb Adam and Eve type origin story.
