I will admit something. This is the only giant robot series to make me cry and a few of different moments too. The story of what Simon meant to Kamina and vice-versa, the end of the dream world part, and the ending. I'm sure there are other parts I'm skipping over as well.
  • MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
^^No, I'm, saying you're not supposed to take that as something you should apply in real life.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
I was making jokes. Shoulda used a smiley.
  • You can change. You can.
Nah, without emoticons, I read that in an offended British gentleman's voice. It's far better that way.
  • One foot in front of the other, every day.
    :D

Hi there, foreverpandering here with my views on Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann!
  • Kamina's death is when shit gets really serious. Before this point, everything was dangerous but it was fun.

Exactly, and I really felt like it didn't do the serious stuff as well as it handled the fun stuff. I mean, can you imagine if the writers of Megas XLR had decided to write Coop and Jamie out of the show? And then turned it into a lukewarm rehash of Voltron?

Voltron? More like Macross or Mobile Suit Gundam.

Then it would have the woman and the Robot doing robot things, and be seriousness.
  • He who laments and can't let go of the past is forever doomed to solitude.
There's a difference, Megas XLR is a love letter to past super robot anime. Gurren Lagann is not that.
  • So... is Mega XLR a love letter to TTGL?

    XD

No.  Because Gurren Lagann is not a past super robot anime, as it's a current super robot anime (well, now it's like 4 years old, but whatever).  Which I'm pretty sure is exactly what vandro said...

    love letter

What the fuck does this even mean

    Pony Sleuth
It's a faggy way of saying tribute or homage.
  • ☭Unstoppable Sex Goddess☭
Oh, okay then. Makes more sense now, but I really doubt it's a love letter to past super robot anime.
  • You can change. You can.
It's a faggy way of saying tribute or homage.

Oh, come on, Homage is faggier. Hell, it's even French.
  • I originally had it as just "tribute," but I put in "homage" to make it more clear.

But if you want to get technical, it can still be a faggy way to say "homage," even if it happens to be less faggy.
  • You can change. You can.
    Ah, true, I guess.

And yeah, XLR is supposed to be a silly affectionate parody of shows like Voltron and the like.

Not to mention that it's not as if TTGL lost the sense of humor and fun when Kamina was gone. There have been still plenty of funny moments, imo. And the show still has that sense of OTT action that caught my attention in the first place.

(I speak on the present tense because lolol haven't finished the series)
  • Lol Juan, u bad.
