    Didn't the manual say Goombas were traitors? And there are plenty of Bowser's baddies on friendly terms with the Mushroom Kingdom, as can be seen in the spinoff games.

    I think the original manual said they were Toads that were transformed by Bowser, but later games seem to indicate that Nintendo dropped that idea.

    Boos are like my favorite enemies from the Mario Bestiary, next to Ninjis and Reznor(s).

    I remember a long time ago I was making a strategy game out of them with cut out pieces of paper similar to FE, without knowledge that FE even existed at the time. It was when Mario Party 4 I think came out, where you had a mario enemy follow you around on the board and you would send them out to fight.

    It was fun, but eventually I got bored with it, because nobody would want to play a SRPG with me about enemies from mario.

    I agree with Abyss_Worm though. That kind of "racism" does not seem to exist as much in the spinoff games, especially in the Paper Mario ones. Still, I guess Goombella does complain about goombas being called "    underlings of underlings" in the tattle log in the second game so maybe there is some institutional racism in the Mushroom kingdom. I figure that a lot of that is related to how goombas can be found working for Bowser. I suppose people make generalizations about them all being bad from that.

    Yeah, I am probably thinking too much about this, sorry.
