If you have an email ending in @hotmail.com, @live.com or @outlook.com (or any other Microsoft-related domain), please consider changing it to another email provider; Microsoft decided to instantly block the server's IP, so emails can't be sent to these addresses.
If you use an @yahoo.com email or any related Yahoo services, they have blocked us also due to "user complaints"

All the shit threads popping up in Yack Fest lately

But yeah, that would get you banned, but not everyone is the same, entertainingly enough. I guess Yack Fest was filled with clones back in the day.
Tnoph: Try reading DLC's ED article to give you a general idea.
She's that infamous.
IRC is a text chat medium. Users get on IRC networks using programs ("clients"), which connect to a network's servers; networks are made of one or more servers that communicate between each other. People usually join channels and chat with each other in groups; channels are basically chat rooms. Famous IRC networks include EsperNet, DalNet, Rizon, Undernet, and many others.
To connect to IRC, you'll need a client. If you don't have one, you can go to Mibbit.com, which is a browser-based IRC client (one that doesn't use Java, even!). Here is a link to connect to #yackfest on EsperNet: http://01.chat.mibbit.com/?server=irc.esper.net&channel=#yackfest
If you want to use a different client, you can download such programs as X-Chat (multiplatform), Virc (Windows), HiRC (Windows), and Chatzilla (a Firefox extension). Many people also mention mIRC though I don't like it since it's nagware and that gives me ethical qualms about using it for free.
Basic commands on IRC:
* to say something, just type in the text input bar. It should be fairly obvious regardless of your client.
* to show an action, preface your line with "/me ". Remember to write in third person!
* to quit, close the program or type "/quit".
* to join another channel, type "/join #channelname", such as "/join #yackfest-rp".
* to change your nickname (i.e. IRC username) to something else, type "/nick newnickname".
I'll admit, I've used Yack Fest (specifically the sadness thread) as a hugbox before.
Also, I will bitch slap anyone who starts talking badly about Cele. She is a very good friend of mine.
People who want a hugbox can visit the places on the internet where arguing isn't allowed. No, I'm not referring to any aspect of arguing. Just arguing in general. There are places. PlaceS. With an S, plural, where you can't disagree with people. I've been a member of several. If you want hollow, look no further. SHOCKINGLY, most of them have since closed down due to a lack of interest. A bunch of people agreeing with each other gets boring after awhile.
That said, constant DISagreeing is no more meaningful than constant agreeing. In fact, it's almost less such, since people at least tend to be sincere when they profess a like of something, but that's not always the case when they profess a dislike of it.
- Person goes into Yack Fest
- Makes a thread/post about how this forum sucks and is a hugbox
- Multi-sided argument ensues.
The fact that people disagree with each other at all indicates that it's not "a hugbox". I'd also like to strangle whoever came up with that term for making me use it so many times in a sentence. If you're complaining that we don't insult each other enough, however, I can't help you.
People complain about YackFest on YackFest all the time. I'd know, I'm one of the people who does it. Not because it's a hugbox though, there's entirely too much armchair psychology over there.
He remains the only person on TVTropes, and only one of two people on the internet at large to ever truly piss me off as far as the gauge goes into the red. I don't forget things like that, and I will nitpick those people whenever I get the chance.
"Honest Hostility" is a statement implying that in order to be honest with someone you don't like, you have to flame them. Which is bullshit, but a lot of people believe it anyway.
I forget who. Btw, does he still hang out on IRC?
