It's been a while since I've gotten inordinately angry at something

I clench my fists and yell "anime" towards an uncaring, absent God, and swear solemnly to press my thumbs into Chocolate America's eyeballs until he is blinded, to directly emasculate sporting figures, to beat the shit out of tumblr users with baseball bats, and to quietly appreciate what Waylon Smithers being gay means to me.

Which do you guys think is worse? This one:

Or this one:

Comments

  • I've lost the ability to get mad at political cartoons after seeing so many terrible ones on tumblr and SA.

  • I clench my fists and yell "anime" towards an uncaring, absent God, and swear solemnly to press my thumbs into Chocolate America's eyeballs until he is blinded, to directly emasculate sporting figures, to beat the shit out of tumblr users with baseball bats, and to quietly appreciate what Waylon Smithers being gay means to me.
Just kidding, it's the second one, since it was too atrocious even for the paper that usually runs his tripe.
  • I am Dr. Ned who is totally not Dr. Zed in disguise.

The second comic is about Obama being foresightful in teaching his daughter's suitor about readily available contraception which means that in the event that the teens do engage in sexual activities, and teens quite often do, they do so safely and without risk of stds and pregnancy.

    A good comic.

That's the weird part, the comic makes absolutely no pretense about being anything other than a cheap potshot at what he thinks would be Obama's hypocrisy. Which is completely false anyway, because Obama said that he thinks that his daughters should be able to use birth control and get abortions. God I hate Mike Lester.

Edit: Nevermind, that's not the point.

  • It's too silly to really get worked up about(besides perhaps dragging someone's children into the debate, but that's par for the course in American politics).

What's the nasty aftertaste of miscegenation that appears in a side-by-side comparison(man-donkey hybrids are on the same level as black people having kids), but perhaps I'm reading too much into it.

Oh yeah, I had an e-mail exchange with this doofus.

Me: people who continue to accuse Obama of "socialism" are probably unclear on its definition, or the fact that America has had great success incorporating some "socialist" principles since its beginning. New ideas are always worth trying, anything is better than keeping things the same exact way when it's obviously been falling apart over the past century.

Him: That's what happens when you make an affirmative action hire.  Vote for anybody but BHO in Nov. and watch how quickly things turn around.

Me: Affirmative action hire? Really? People voted for him and will vote for him again because everyone in the lead against him are barbarians in comparison. I'll vote republican when they back a candidate who doesn't believe that men kissing is going to tear down civilization, that science is a satanist plot against Christianity or that rape victims should be forced at gunpoint to bear a criminal's child.

Him: ll give you the last word but before I do I want to tell you that you are a not alone, you didn't just land here, you were created by a power stronger than you and beyond your ability to comprehend.  You were not created out of hate but of love and whoever, wherever he or she is, God loves you.

Me: I don't see any love in the aggressive cultural agendas dominating conservative policies. I'll take all the money-grubbing, lying liberals in the world over a single conservative who thinks scientific facts and cultural variety are inappropriate for my children. :)

    Him: save your emoticons.

I know I'm bitchy and ranting and just venting at him and all, but his responses don't even logically follow from what I'm saying. I think my last message to him was nicer, too, but he totally lied to me about giving me the last word!

  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.

What's the nasty aftertaste of miscegenation that appears in a side-by-side comparison(man-donkey hybrids are on the same level as black people having kids), but perhaps I'm reading too much into it.

I agree that these cartoons are very stupid, but I do think that this is reading too much into it.   Donkeys are used to represent Democrats a lot, since their party is associated with a donkey, the same way Republicans are associated with an elephant.

  • What is it with Republicans saying "God loves you?" when they are so full of hatred? And while there might be good arguments against affirmative action (I'd prefer mitigating the source of people's prejudices with things such as blind interviews myself), most of the arguments boil down to "Won't someone please think of the whites!?"

    Loser

    Abyss_Worm,

At the risk of going down the "both sides do it" road, from what I can tell, Republicans generally do not show a significantly greater propensity to hate than Democrats do. I might just have an unrepresentative sample, but I have seen some rather disparaging things said about Christian groups (such as comparing them to terrorists), people who are wealthy, and conservatives in general on some liberal sites.

That is not to say that Democrats are full of hatred, just that it seems inappropriate to me to generalize Republicans as big time haters. I feel like the bigger problem is a lack of respect and knowledge of who the other side really is.

Still, you might be right about people who are incredibly socially conservative being much more likely to have prejudice against certain ethnic groups, but I do not believe that most Republicans really seem to be like that. It is probably a good idea to take what I say with a grain of salt though since I am no expert.

  • I know that every ideology has its fair share of hatred as a fuel source, but what I find odd is the way messages of love are invoked in the name of hatred.

Aye, that is regrettable. I guess in those situations  the whole "actions speak louder than words" thing really seems to ring true.

Sorry if I was a little preachy in the last post. It just bugs me when people generalize and dismiss all Democrats or Republicans as horrible human beings. As far as I can tell, all that kind of talk really does is turn people away from political discussions because they seem so mean-spirited and toxic. I guess it fires some people up to, but generally, I cannot say I care for enthusiasm based upon hatred.
