Yeah, I think I've seen this around.

There was also a Maximum Ride adaptation sort of like this. It wasn't bad. Sort of the right medium anyway for Patterson's writing.

As for the manga like format it will limit the text to the bare essentials for the story. This gives me hope that the story will be less “cheesy” and more on the vampire, human, wolf issues.

I mean I can't really argue with an effort to cut out as much of the rambling narration as possible, but I can't help but think the more obvious way to do it involves an incinerator. Trying to distill things only works when there's something desirable in it in the first place.
