Dodongo dislikes smoke

edited 2012-01-12 14:20:05 in Media

So why does he live in a volcano?

Comments

  • Champion of the Whales

Because there was a Hyrulian property boom and the volcano pad was the only one he could afford.

  • It's the smoke from bombs specifically that they hate, right? But then they are so often near bomb flowers. Maybe bomb flowers evolved with a toxin to repel dodongos and they coexist fine as long as they don't touch them.

Well, they eat Gorons, right? So they were just forced into a bad position when tracking down their prey
  • Moralizing anti-smoking stuff snuck into mah games.

  • Also:

Gorons: We're gonna starve because we eat rocks and they're sealed in the cave being blocked by a giant rock!

Although Majora's Mask did introduce the possibility of types of rock and rock-qualities so perhaps the giant rock tasted like it came out of King Dodongo's ass, but still.

  • Waltzy, they specifically mentioned that their tastes had adapted to the nutritious rocks of that sealed-off area. I think they called it sirloin something. It wasn't necessary for another game to introduce the possibility.

^^ So they suffer from the same problems as pandas?

  • But you never had any to begin with.

Why couldn't the Gorons just pick up the bomb flowers themselves?

    You can change. You can.

because only the white kid can save the brown people.

Maybe Dodongos are okay with smoke. Maybe they were just startled because "a fucking bomb just went off near my head jesus christ i'm gonna die"

  • You can change. You can.

    pussies

  • But you never had any to begin with.

You eat a bomb and see where it gets you, Juan.

Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
The rock wasn't the problem, the Dodongos were the the problem. The gorons put that rock there to keep them safe from the Dodongos.

If I remember correctly. It's been a while.

Sai: As stated earlier, Dodongos eat Gorons

In game, I'm pretty sure the only reason Link did it was because he was brave to the point of stupidity. Other Hylians would probably go, "HAHAHA No. Learn to like other rocks then"
  • I think the rock was placed there by Ganondorf, actually.
  • Champion of the Whales

Wasn't the rock that blocked the cave a different type of rock to the ones the Gorons liked?

Its been a while but I thought Gorons only ate certain rocks.

  • Dammit man, are you actually reading the thread?
  • Champion of the Whales

    I did

    also from the Zelda wiki:

"One Goron mentions that the Gorons have became such gourmets that they refuse to eat ordinary rocks, and thus rely on the mines for their only source of food."

  • I thought we had established that.
  • Champion of the Whales

Well, I guess so but its 2246 so can you give me a break?

  • Sure.

    ^^ 10:46 PM? Bah, that's nothing!

And seriously, those Gorons, once starving to death, would provably resort to 'sub par' rocks
  • Regular rocks are too mainstream for gorons, the hipsters.

  • No rainbow star
    But most rocks are underground
  • Why do you think they eat rocks in the first place?
