So I just bought a lapis gem...
...And I have no skill with jewelery beyond a little native american stuff involving bones, leather, etc.
So, anybody here have any idea how I should incorporate it into a gift without fucking up? All I have is figuring out how to set it in some metal then embed that into a fabric necklace as a gift for my girlfriend (Not many people can say they got a plush necklace)

I dunno, make a clay collar or wrist band?
What shape is it? Faceted, cabochon, tumbled, etc etc?
Surgically implant it into her in her sleep.
I have no experience with mounting gems into fabrics, but if the stone's size is calibrated [say, 8x6mm, 10x12mm, etc etc] it should be pretty easy to find pre-made components for it if you want to take the easy route there. Getting a simple calibrated stone set into a calibrated mounting [5 minutes work at the most with proper tools, even less with a cabochon] costs a good $100 in some places.
