"...and that's when my father forbade Christmas in this house!"

MORONS! I'VE GOT MORONS ON MY PAYROLL!
Does this ever actually happen? I see it all the time in shmaltzy Christmas specials to show how evil the person is but the only time I've ever seen people not celebrate Christmas is for religious reasons.

  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
You know, that kinda makes Christmas specials sound like Chick tracts.

There's always been a bit of a thought crime aspect to a lot of Christmas specials to me.

Yeah, now that I think about it, there really is.
  • It's hard to imagine anyone in real life who positively to take time off work and eat/drink more than usual, even if they're a hardcore atheist. There are people who won't/can't do the "family" side of Christmas, but all that usually means is that they don't have a family or don't get on with their family, and of course some people can't afford much in the way of celebrations.

The fictional characters you are talking about are probably all ultimately descended from Scrooge. You have to admire Dickens for coming up with such an archetypal character.
