They're pretty. Yes. That's nice. And that's just about all they're good for.

In practice, those little sparkly flakes get all over the freaking place.

Actually, I have played some MtG and have chatted about it a lot and I don't think it's a very effective card, but then again I have never played decks with more than two color bases.

There are non-basic lands with basic land types. Like the original Dual Lands, which are stuff like "Island Swamp" etc.
