My father just called me from his bedroom.

Now the last time he started calling me from across the house was back when his health was so bad he needed help getting around the house. 

So when I see it's my father calling me I freak out, thinking he might have fallen and busted his leg or something.

No, he just called to make sure I put away the cars. 

I mean I might be overreacting but Jesus, it's understood that he only does something like that when he's got serious trouble. 

Urgh, maybe I'm just high strung about this.

Awwww. I don't think it's being high strung. If that's what the pattern supports then it makes sense to react that way.

The first thing I thought of though upon reading the title was "oh no his dad's got a Death Note".

Perhaps you need to discuss your rule with him again. It's a bit lazy to phone people in the same house, like it is to e-mail people in the same office, but actually banning it is maybe a bit extreme.
