    Fruits and spices (maybe some brandy or sherry too if a fancy recipe) in a pastry filling, that you really only get at Christmas and really only in the UK.

    Both my mom and grandmother make these around the holidays; the mincemeat version isn't bad either [my grandmother adds bourbon]. Very delicious, wish I could get them to make them the rest of the year, haha.

    The ones with actual meat in I've never really found as enjoyable as the fruit only ones.
