Yeah, a good chunk of them probably are. Then again, I'd say people can be idiots in general.
It just annoys me that people under the age of 18 are often dismissed as idiots without ever being given the benefit of the doubt. If they're such morons, teach them something instead of condescendingly sneering at them all the time.

Amusingly, I have often heard this on TV Tropes/here from people who were probably very recently teenagers themselves or still are.
I think the problem from an adult perspective is that you tend to get set in your world-view, maybe for good reasons - it's what works in your experience. Then along comes someone who asks all these questions about it, and it's easy to get defensive instead of explaining it rationally. "You don't agree with this? Pah, teenagers are idiots!"
And most don't grow out of it
Take me for an example, a lot of the things I thought or liked back then I would cringe or laugh at now. So, whenever I hear a teenager act like x cynical ideology is how the world really works or spout something equally pretentious, I know they'll most likely grow out of it.
>Disengage yourself from teen attitudes in such a way that you confirm to another teen stereotype
Story o' me life
A lot of the actual fighting in every war you ever read about will have been done by teenagers, or people barely out of their teens.
Although you could use that as an argument for them being dumb, if you were a (rather bitter) pacifist.
