  • Till shade is gone, till water is gone, into the Shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath, to spit in Sightblinder’s eye on the last Day.
    oooold

Yeah, but goofups like that do slip by every once in a while.

That 36 second video had exactly 1 frame of actual content.

    Why do people do this?

  • Give us fire! Give us ruin! Give us our glory!
^Never underestimate bronies obsessive nerds with too much free time.
  • It's not that, it's the fact that that whole video could have been condensed into a single frame that just showed the spot where there's an error.  Or maybe a second or two since the mistake does last for more than one frame.  Either way, the point is that that video has like 34 seconds of bullshit that it doesn't need, including a 10 second intro of all things.

    No rainbow star
Wadsworth Constant in full effect here, and then some

Edit: Fixed the spelling, so anyone else interested in the term can find it more easily. ~GMH

Yeah, at most, that should have been five seconds, and that's if they really had to take three seconds or so to show the context.
  • There are a lot of animation errors in the series. It's the reason we have Derpy Hooves, anyway. Generally, they're subtle and you really have to pay attention to catch them. The one Glenn posted is probably the most obvious one yet, and even so a lot of people miss it the first time viewing.

Well, Derpy might have been a joke. But yeah, there are a lot of errors.

    Ah yes, Donny Swineclop.

I remember seeing a compilation of the animation errors throughout Season 1.  It was over an hour long.  Still, as wonderfully expressive as the animation is, it's hard to not forgive them for even frequent bungles.

^^ The Non-Euclidean duck from Dash's pet episode was probably the most noticeable one.  That and mysteriously ephemeral saddlebags.

^ We're pretty sure Derpy was an accident the first time.

Oh? I'd always heard that it was a joke from the start.
  • As soon as they could after hearing the fan reaction, they started derping her eyes in her scenes, and in season two they started including her as a gag background character in storyboards. So afterwards it did become deliberate.
  • Whilst I'm sure the animators on My Little Pony are mostly younger than me and completely internet-savvy, it still amuses me to think of them as grumpy old guys sitting around in scuzzy bars grousing about how "them pesky kids on that Internet" just don't appreciate how hard animation is.
  • >completely internet-savvy

Well they did have a chocolate rain reference in the first episode of season two.
  • Not to mention they were the ones who noticed the explosion on 4chan, which Faust had apparently never heard of before.

What public correspondence and feedback the animators have given paints them as awesomely laid back, so I'm pretty sure a slightly chastised chuckle and picture of one of them doing a ponyshrug would be about all you'd get out of them for most of it.  Really, they seem more excited that their work is actively drawing so many people into considering the field as a career.

Just make sure that SOPA and PIPA don't then screw up those people's ambitions by killing off the industry as well as the creative ideas of new talent.
