    ^^^ Yeah, Dracula the novel is actually quite silly in parts. Van Helsing's accent isn't like any Dutch person I've ever met.

    I think my biggest problem is that I would look at dialogue and think things along the lines of, "this isn't how engaging people/characters talk".

    Well, probably some talked like that--otherwise there would be no precedent. But people who talk(ed) like that are the sort who make other unusual (nerdy) people--or at least me--want to sock them.
