I'm pretty happy with my purchase of the first two Fallout games + Tactics for ten bucks, right now.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
^^Go for Terraria. It's getting a hell of an update soon.
  • The only games on that list I'm familiar with are Braid and Chantelise.  Braid is a very well-made puzzle game with nice art and music, and even though it kind of comes across as trying a bit too hard to be artsy, it's definitely worth playing.  Chantelise is pretty fun, I'm enjoying it so far, but it's not particularly amazing and I think a lot of the reason I like it is because it feels like a PSX game and so I'm feeling vaguely nostalgic.  Still fun though, but there are probably other games that should be higher-priority.

Is Terraria multiplayer co-op only?  Does it have a single-player mode?  Will I be able to find enough people to co-op with?

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
It has single-player, which works fine, and is almost all I've done.

I'm considering making an IJBMer server once the next update's out.

^No, Yes, and INUH is planning on making an IJBM server when the update hits (or whenever he can pull himself way from Skyrim :p).

    EDIT: Ninja'd.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
I'm already pulled away from Skyrim.

    Temporarily.

I'm at my parents' house, which means I don't have a computer that can run it. So I'm playing Morrowind for now.

    Okay, confrming that one.

And scratching out TF2 item since it doesn't have a time limit.  And Braid since I'm not sure if I'm in the mood for puzzle platformers.

    So, the next choice is:

There are a few other games that are 4.99.  Chantelise, Fate of the World, Fallout.  If I get one of those, I can get a choice of one of the following as well: Steel Storm, Defy Gravity, Starscape, and Tobe's Vertical Adventure.

Alternatively, I can get three of those last four, if I don't get any 4.99 game.

Alternatively, I can get a four-copy pack of Steel Storm and send three to friends, and then another one of those last four games.  Except I don't think I want to do this, because this is basically committing to a game that I don't actually know if I'll like.

    I recommend Fallout.

Not only is it the only game there that I've played, it's a lot of fun and pretty big.

    Good writing and voice-acting, too.

From what I hear, the old Fallout games haven't really aged all that well and are kind of obtuse to play at times but are very good story and setting wise. I also heard that Steel Storm isn't all that good.

I'd say get either Chantelise or Fallout.

Yeah, the gameplay is kind of slow, and you might have to get some patches and stuff to make it run, but the setting and story more than make up for it.

They've also got 2, which is supposed to be better, I think.

    Oh, it is?

Can Fallout 2 be appreciated without having played Fallout 1?

And is Fallout 1 patched on Steam?

If I'm not mistaken, GOG.com updates its games to run on modern hardware/OSes, and plus it doesn't have any DRM, so if you wanted to buy Fallout, it'd probably be better to buy it from there than Steam, especially since it's only a dollar more.

    OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
I can't buy from GOG because they're based in Europe and my credit card starts freaking out. Very annoying, since they have stuff Steam doesn't.
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
    Does GOG take Paypal?
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
    Probably; everywhere does these days.

I deliberately avoid using Paypal because they've been known to refuse to give sellers their money.

Maybe it's more okay if you've actually put the money in the Paypal account as opposed to simply using it as an intermediary stuck to your credit card or bank account?

    I have no idea.
  • OOOooooOoOoOOoo, I'm a ghoOooOooOOOost!
No, no, the way it works is that if a company suddenly has more money in its account than expected, Paypal will label that "suspicious activity" and freeze the account. Mojang lost hundreds of thousands of Euros to that when Minecraft suddenly took off.

Damnit, JBridge, why did you have to get me interested in Sanctum.  Add another choice to the "less than 4.99" category.
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
In other news, I don't think I can run Sanctum.

    So I think I've decided.

Done purchasing.  Terraria, Starscape, Steel Storm, and Defy Gravity get.

Also, Aquaria and Crayon Physics Deluxe get, via Humble Bundle.  And three and a half other games (Darwinia, Defcon, and Uplink), plus two demos (a demo(lition) demo, I think, and a city-building demo).

I decided against Sanctum in part because I'm not sure my computer can run it.  That said, the sale on it ends today at 1 PM Eastern (10 AM Pacific), so if you want to gift it to me before then, feel free.  It's $2.49 right now, 75% off of base list price.

Enjoy looking at my wishlist, which has since changed rather significantly.  Obviously, five games came off it, but I also added Sanctum, Portal, and Cave Story +, Trauma, and Tobe's Vertical Adventure in recent days.

    Recommending fate of the world!

Edit: So late in my posting.
  • Creature - Florida Dragon Turtle Human
    Lol.

Didn't feel like playing it right now, though.  I dunno.  It would be a rather different sort of game than from what I typically play.

Heh, I remember the days when I felt that sports games, racing games, and minigame-based games weren't "real games" because they didn't involve platforming action.
